TL;DR: Character education can be characterized by a whole-souled, wholesome, moral, and disposition education at rendering good decisions, maintaining what is good, and wholeheartedly displaying goodness in daily life as discussed by the authors .
Abstract: Character education can be characterized by a whole-souled, wholesome, moral, and disposition education at rendering good decisions, maintaining what is good, and wholeheartedly displaying goodness in daily life. The prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was the messenger of god and the educator. He got disciplined directly from his Lord so as to have the most perfect character on the face of this earth, so as to become a great man with the testimony of god enshrined in his word: “and how virtuous you truly are” the great testimony of god of the prophet (peace) is evidence that his moral character is great and glorious since the creation of it. He was renowned among his kind as honest and trustworthy. As a majestic being, he had the glorious duty of the supreme being, the edifying and perfecting of men, as the prophecy says: “that I was sent forth to perfect men.” He succeeded in carrying out a great commission by turning the evil community into a society of faith and civility, while printing out noble characters

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors provide an overview of the VIA classification of character strengths and virtues and discuss some general considerations when assessing character strengths, as well as different instruments used to assess character strengths across different age groups and contexts.
Abstract: Character strengths are among the most frequently studied research topics in positive psychology (Donaldson et al., 2015). This chapter briefly introduces the VIA classification of character strengths and virtues (Peterson & Seligman, 2004) and discusses some general considerations when assessing character strengths. We then focus on reviewing different instruments that have been used to assess character strengths across different age groups and contexts. Overall, we aim to provide an overview of the instruments available and the challenges that go along with assessing character strengths.

TL;DR: In this paper , a community service article aims to change the bad character so that it becomes good for the community in Lebak Kinasih Housing Purwakarta, Indonesia.
Abstract: This Community Service article aims to change the bad character so that it becomes good for the community in Lebak Kinasih Housing Purwakarta. The service method uses a mix method approach with a Participatory Action Research (PAR) design. First, conducting observations and interviews to fill out a questionnaire related to the character of the community by presenting descriptive statistical data. The second step is analyzing the problem and followed by the next step systematically by taking actions in the form of a yasinan study every Friday night by observing changes in the character of the community. A series of actions produces a step-by-step change. Changes in character begin with a good understanding of social life, then a strong desire to change behavior, and finally awareness of good deeds that are carried out spontaneously between individuals. Through weekly yasinan studies, it can be found that effective and efficient actions change the character of the community through the stages of understanding religious values (cognitive), social attitudes (attitude), the spirit of doing good (motivation), daily actions (behaviors), and certain skills (skills).

TL;DR: The authors investigated the impact of one's social distance to the character depicted in ads (animal vs. human) and the temporal distance (present vs. future) toward organic animal husbandry on consumers' purchase responses directly; indirectly, as related to the portrayed character; and generally to organic foods.
Abstract: Multiple studies employ consumers’ intentions rather than actual purchases when assessing organic food consumption. These studies typically suggest a green bias in organic market share. Employing reactance and construal level theory, this research investigates the impact of one’s social distance to the character depicted in ads (animal vs. human) and the temporal distance (present vs. future) toward organic animal husbandry on consumers’ purchase responses directly; indirectly, as related to the portrayed character; and generally to organic foods. Three 2 (temporal distance: low, high) × 2 (social distance: low, high) between-subjects experiments demonstrate that low social distance depicting humans rather than animals induces psychological reactance, which impedes purchase intentions of organic groceries, whereas ads featuring high social and temporal distance (depicting animals in an ideal future husbandry state) increase consumers’ purchase intentions and actual purchase behavior, even for products with no direct connection to the depicted character in the ads.

TL;DR: In this paper , an atomic Bose-Einstein condensate quenched to the unitary regime is shown to form a significant fraction of condensed pairs and triples, and the structure of the condensed triples depends on the size of Efimov states compared with density scales.
Abstract: In an atomic Bose-Einstein condensate quenched to the unitary regime, we predict the sequential formation of a significant fraction of condensed pairs and triples. At short distances, we demonstrate the two-body and Efimovian character of the condensed pairs and triples, respectively. As the system evolves, their size becomes comparable to the interparticle distance, such that many-body effects become significant. The structure of the condensed triples depends on the size of Efimov states compared with density scales. Unexpectedly, we find universal condensed triples in the limit where these scales are well separated. Our findings provide a new framework for understanding dynamics in the unitary regime as the Bose-Einstein condensation of few-body composites.

TL;DR: Characters of the English alphabet and digit recognition are performed by proposing a custom-tailored CNN model with two different datasets of handwritten images, i.e., Kaggle and MNIST, respectively, which are lightweight but achieve higher accuracies than state-of-the-art models.
Abstract: Neural networks have made big strides in image classification. Convolutional neural networks (CNN) work successfully to run neural networks on direct images. Handwritten character recognition (HCR) is now a very powerful tool to detect traffic signals, translate language, and extract information from documents, etc. Although handwritten character recognition technology is in use in the industry, present accuracy is not outstanding, which compromises both performance and usability. Thus, the character recognition technologies in use are still not very reliable and need further improvement to be extensively deployed for serious and reliable tasks. On this account, characters of the English alphabet and digit recognition are performed by proposing a custom-tailored CNN model with two different datasets of handwritten images, i.e., Kaggle and MNIST, respectively, which are lightweight but achieve higher accuracies than state-of-the-art models. The best two models from the total of twelve designed are proposed by altering hyper-parameters to observe which models provide the best accuracy for which dataset. In addition, the classification reports (CRs) of these two proposed models are extensively investigated considering the performance matrices, such as precision, recall, specificity, and F1 score, which are obtained from the developed confusion matrix (CM). To simulate a practical scenario, the dataset is kept unbalanced and three more averages for the F measurement (micro, macro, and weighted) are calculated, which facilitates better understanding of the performances of the models. The highest accuracy of 99.642% is achieved for digit recognition, with the model using ‘RMSprop’, at a learning rate of 0.001, whereas the highest detection accuracy for alphabet recognition is 99.563%, which is obtained with the proposed model using ‘ADAM’ optimizer at a learning rate of 0.00001. The macro F1 and weighted F1 scores for the best two models are 0.998, 0.997:0.992, and 0.996, respectively, for digit and alphabet recognition.

Abstract: Pancasila students are the embodiment of Indonesian students as lifelong students who have global competence and behave in accordance with the values ??of Pancasila with six main characteristics: faith, fear of God Almighty, and noble character, global diversity, mutual cooperation, independent, critical reasoning. and creative. Character education in the formation of Pancasila student profiles has actually been attempted, both in the learning process in the classroom and outside the classroom. The formulation of the Pancasila Student profile was made with the aim of being a compass for Indonesian educators and students. All learning, programs, and activities in the education unit aim at the end of the Pancasila student profile. These efforts can be done through example and habituation which in its implementation cannot be separated from the guidance of a teacher (pamong). In accordance with the motto of Ki Hajar Dewantara "ing ngarso sung tulodo, ing madya mangun karso, tut wuri handayani which means in front of being an example, in the middle building enthusiasm in the back giving encouragement". From the results of the literature study it was found that Ki Hajar Dewantara's thoughts on education were very relevant to be applied where according to him that independent education was a deliberate effort to advance the life and growth of character (feel, mind, spirit) and the child's body by way of teaching, example, and habituation should not be accompanied by orders and coercion. This thinking is in line with the mandate of the President of the Republic of Indonesia as stated in the Minister of Education and Culture Regulation No. 20 of 2018 concerning the determination of the Pancasila student profile. The Pancasila student profile aims to support the President's Vision and Mission to realize an Advanced Indonesia that is sovereign, independent and has personality. The embodiment of Indonesian students as lifelong students who have global competence and behave in accordance with the values ??of Pancasila. contains theories that are relevant to the research to be carried out. It is hoped that this literature study will be able to show the Internalization of Ki Hajar Dewantara's educational philosophy in realizing the Pancasila Student Profile. TL;DR: In this paper , the authors explored whether the three elements of character image (i.e., symbolic representation, self-image congruence, and emotional value) have a crucial effect on purchase intention.
Abstract: This study explores whether the three elements of character image (i.e., symbolic representation, self-image congruence, and emotional value) have a crucial effect on purchase intention. This study adopts a questionnaire survey method and from 225 valid questionnaires collected uses structural equation modeling to analyze the data. The research results reveal that all three elements of character image significantly influenced consumers’ attitude, which in turn affects their purchase intention. Moreover, self-image congruence and emotional value evidently affect impulse buying, whereas symbolic representation does not. The symbolic representation of the classic characters has a stronger influence on brand awareness. The digital characters have vivid expressions effects with their rapid spread over the Internet. Consumers who identify more with the image of cute characters tend to have an increased intention to purchase character merchandise. Related parties are recommended to use the three elements as their design focus and in their marketing strategies.

TL;DR: An improved method for processing the image of a vehicle's license plate when shooting with a smartphone camera that employs the combined results from streaming video frames operates with numerical probability vectors is reported.
Abstract: This paper reports an improved method for processing the image of a vehicle's license plate when shooting with a smartphone camera. The method for processing the image of a vehicle's license plate includes the following stages: – enter the source data; – split the video streaming into frames; – preliminary process the image of a vehicle's license plate; – find the area of a vehicle's license plate; – refine character recognition using the signature of a vehicle's license plate; – refine character recognition using the combined results from frames in the streaming video; – obtain the result of processing. Experimental studies were conducted on the processing of images of a vehicle's license plate. During the experimental studies, the license plate of a military vehicle (Ukraine) was considered. The original image was the color image of a vehicle. The results of experimental studies are given. A comparison of the quality of character recognition in a license plate has been carried out. It was established that the improved method that uses the combined results from streaming video frames works out efficiently at the end of the sequence. The improved method that employs the combined results from streaming video frames operates with numerical probability vectors. The assessment of errors of the first and second kind in processing the image of a license plate was carried out. The total accuracy of finding the area of a license plate by known method is 61 % while the improved method's result is 76 %. It has been established that the minimization of errors of the first kind is more important than reducing errors of the second kind. If a license plate is incorrectly identified, these results would certainly be discarded at the character recognition stage.

TL;DR: The main goal of as mentioned in this paper is to prove that Ivan Fliagin's real status is that of a vagrant and to illustrate how this detail complicates the interpretations of Leskov's novel.
Abstract: Abstract Nikolai Leskov’s novel The Enchanted Wanderer (1873) is one of the most popular texts written by the Russian author. The main character of the novel, Ivan Fliagin, is generally considered to be a true Russian type, a true national hero, a superman, and a religious pilgrim. Without scrutinizing Fliagin’s legal and social status any further, scholars have largely relied on the title of the novel and have perceived the character to be a religious wanderer. The main goal of the present article is to prove that Fliagin’s real status is that of a vagrant and to illustrate how this detail complicates the interpretations of Leskov’s novel. Additionally, this essay will show how Leskov’s treatment of vagrancy evolved between 1870s and 1890s.

TL;DR: In this paper , the smooth overlap of atomic positions (SOAP) and the atom-centered symmetry functions (ACSFs) were studied under finite changes in atomic positions and demonstrated the existence of manifolds of quasi-constant fingerprints.
Abstract: Atomic fingerprints are commonly used for the characterization of local environments of atoms in machine learning and other contexts. In this work, we study the behavior of two widely used fingerprints, namely, the smooth overlap of atomic positions (SOAP) and the atom-centered symmetry functions (ACSFs), under finite changes of atomic positions and demonstrate the existence of manifolds of quasi-constant fingerprints. These manifolds are found numerically by following eigenvectors of the sensitivity matrix with quasi-zero eigenvalues. The existence of such manifolds in ACSF and SOAP causes a failure to machine learn four-body interactions, such as torsional energies that are part of standard force fields. No such manifolds can be found for the overlap matrix (OM) fingerprint due to its intrinsic many-body character.

TL;DR: In this article , a handwritten document recognition system based on the convolutional neural network technique is presented, which performs image pre-processing stages to prepare data for training using a CNN and then segmented the input document using line, word and character segmentation.
Abstract: This paper presents a handwritten document recognition system based on the convolutional neural network technique. In today’s world, handwritten document recognition is rapidly attaining the attention of researchers due to its promising behavior as assisting technology for visually impaired users. This technology is also helpful for the automatic data entry system. In the proposed system prepared a dataset of English language handwritten character images. The proposed system has been trained for the large set of sample data and tested on the sample images of user-defined handwritten documents. In this research, multiple experiments get very worthy recognition results. The proposed system will first perform image pre-processing stages to prepare data for training using a convolutional neural network. After this processing, the input document is segmented using line, word and character segmentation. The proposed system get the accuracy during the character segmentation up to 86%. Then these segmented characters are sent to a convolutional neural network for their recognition. The recognition and segmentation technique proposed in this paper is providing the most acceptable accurate results on a given dataset. The proposed work approaches to the accuracy of the result during convolutional neural network training up to 93%, and for validation that accuracy slightly decreases with 90.42%.

TL;DR: The JOKER workshop as discussed by the authors brought together translators and computer scientists to work on an evaluation framework for wordplay, including data and metric development, and to foster work on automatic wordplay translation.
Abstract: Humour remains one of the most difficult aspects of intercultural communication: understanding humour often requires understanding implicit cultural references and/or double meanings, and this raises the question of its (un)translatability. Wordplay is a common source of humour in due to its attention-getting and subversive character. The translation of humour and wordplay is therefore in high demand. Modern translation depends heavily on technological aids, yet few works have treated the automation of humour and wordplay translation, or the creation of humour corpora. The goal of the JOKER workshop is to bring together translators and computer scientists to work on an evaluation framework for wordplay, including data and metric development, and to foster work on automatic methods for wordplay translation. We propose three pilot tasks: (1) classify and explain instances of wordplay, (2) translate single words containing wordplay, and (3) translate entire phrases containing wordplay.

Abstract: Abstract This paper is devoted to the phenomenon of superintegrability. This phenomenon is manifested in the existence of a formula for character averages, expressed through the same characters at special points and of its various generalization. In this paper we develop a method of proving such formulas from first principle from Virasoro constraints and W -representation. We apply it to prove the formula for the Jack functions averages – appropriate analogue of characters for the $$\beta $$ β -deformed Hermitian Gaussian matrix model. We also sketch the construction of W -operators from Calogero–Ruijsenaars Hamiltonians.

TL;DR: In this paper , the effect of surface termination on Hf2CO2 MXene was investigated by substituting part of the O-terminated layer with S atoms, and it was shown that this chemical strategy allows one to tailor the band gap of MXenes.
Abstract: A computational study was carried out to investigate the effect of surface termination on Janus Hf2COS MXene by substituting partly the O-terminated layer with S atoms. Our predictions confirm that this chemical strategy allows one to tailor the band gap of MXenes. Indeed, the semiconducting character of Hf2CO2 MXene decreases by the exchange of O by S atoms. From a structural point of view, dynamical, mechanical, and thermal analysis confirm the thermodynamic stability of the Janus Hf2COS MXene, which shows metallic character. Furthermore, topological chemical analysis indicates an ionic nature of Hf2CO2 MXene that tends to be reduced by increasing the concentration of S atoms, promoting a covalent character. Shortly, the present study illustrates how the properties of MXenes can be tailored by functionalizing them with different chemical terminations.

TL;DR: In this article , the authors argue that due to its universal appeal, aristocratic culture of the archaic period was a main integrative force of early Greek civilisation in both its social and its geographical dimension.
Abstract: This chapter argues that due to its universal appeal, aristocratic culture of the archaic period was a main integrative force of early Greek civilisation—in both its social and its geographical dimension. Accordingly, Greek aristocracy was above all a cultural phenomenon. Both the individual and the group characterization of the elites in Herodotus seem at first to confirm Alain Duplouy's idea that it is impossible to find an operative definition of the Greek “aristocracy” as a social group. Inculcating oneself and one's progeny in a set of specifically aristocratic cultural skills, essentially, those related to athletics and to the symposium, would be the most wide-spread strategy of social promotion among the citizens of the archaic period. Both the remarkable social mobility within archaic Greek communities and the extraordinary geographical spread and geographical mobility of the archaic Greek culture were due to the predominantly aristocratic character of this culture.

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors used mixed methods with sequential mixed methods strategy and sequential explanatory techniques to evaluate the internalization and implementation of character education in elementary, middle, and high school teachers.
Abstract: Character education is an essential component in directing students to become complete human beings, namely human beings who are cognitively smart, emotionally intelligent, and able to actualize the values of goodness in social life. As currently learning is done virtually, character education is facing obstacles. This research uses mixed methods with sequential mixed methods strategy and sequential explanatory techniques. The research data were obtained through questionnaires filled out by elementary, middle, and high school teachers who participated in the e-workshop on developing the internalization of character values. 576 teachers filled out the research questionnaire. The collected data were then tabulated and analyzed to get a profile picture of the internalization and implementation of character education carried out by the teachers. The results showed that off the three ways used by to implement character education; habituation, integration, and emulation, only one of them is applied by teachers in schools. In addition, teachers experience difficulties in internalizing and implementing character values when learning is done virtually. This is due to the absence of physical meetings between teachers and students. In fact, it is understood that the internalization process plays an important role in the implementation of character values.
