Journal ArticleDOI
Adverse drug reactions related to amoxicillin alone and in association with clavulanic acid: data from spontaneous reporting in Italy
Francesco Salvo,Giovanni Polimeni,Ugo Moretti,Anita Conforti,Roberto Leone,Olivia Leoni,Domenico Motola,Giulia Dusi,Achille P. Caputi +8 more
TL;DR: Analysis of an Italian database of spontaneous reporting of suspected adverse drug reactions shows a different safety profile for the two selected drugs, which seems to be associated with a higher risk of Stevens-Johnson syndrome, purpura and hepatitis than amoxicillin alone.
Journal ArticleDOI
Role of induced nitric oxide in the initiation of the inflammatory response after postischemic injury
Salvatore Cuzzocrea,Prabal K. Chatterjee,Emanuela Mazzon,Laura Dugo,Angela De Sarro,Fons A. J. van de Loo,Achille P. Caputi,Christoph Thiemermann +7 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that the induction of iNOS and NO production are essential for the upregulation of the inflammatory response in splanchnic ischemia/reperfusion and participate in end organ damage under these conditions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cardiovascular and gastrointestinal safety of NSAIDs: a systematic review of meta-analyses of randomized clinical trials.
Francesco Salvo,Francesco Salvo,Francesco Salvo,Annie Fourrier-Réglat,Fabienne Bazin,Fabienne Bazin,Peter Robinson,Peter Robinson,Nuria Riera-Guardia,Mendel D. M. Haag,Achille P. Caputi,Nicholas Moore,Miriam C. J. M. Sturkenboom,Antoine Pariente +13 more
TL;DR: The authors' systematic review of MAs included information on the incidence of CV and GI events and identified important knowledge gaps regarding, in particular, the CV safety of traditional NSAIDs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Inducible nitric oxide synthase-knockout mice exhibit resistance to pleurisy and lung injury caused by carrageenan.
Salvatore Cuzzocrea,Emanuela Mazzon,Giusi Calabrò,Laura Dugo,Angela De Sarro,Fons A. J. van de Loo,Achille P. Caputi +6 more
TL;DR: Results show that iNOS plays an important role in the acute inflammatory response by comparing the responses in wild-type mice (WT) and mice lacking (knockout [KO]).
Journal ArticleDOI
Protective effects of n-acetylcysteine on lung injury and red blood cell modification induced by carrageenan in the rat
Salvatore Cuzzocrea,Emanuela Mazzon,Laura Dugo,Ivana Serraino,Antonio Ciccolo,Tommaso Centorrino,Angela De Sarro,Achille P. Caputi +7 more
TL;DR: Protective effects of n‐acetylcysteine on lung injury and red blood cell modification induced by carrageenan in the rat are demonstrated and indicate that NAC offers a novel therapeutic approach for the management of lung injury where radicals have been postulated to play a role.
