Journal ArticleDOI
The origin of early Acheulean expansion in Europe 700 ka ago: new findings at Notarchirico (Italy).
Marie-Hélène Moncel,Carmen Santagata,Carmen Santagata,Alison Pereira,Alison Pereira,Sébastien Nomade,Pierre Voinchet,Jean-Jacques Bahain,Camille Daujeard,Antonio Curci,Cristina Lemorini,Bruce Hardy,Giacomo Eramo,Claudio Berto,Jean-Paul Raynal,Jean-Paul Raynal,Marta Arzarello,Beniamino Mecozzi,Alessio Iannucci,Raffaele Sardella,Ignazio Allegretta,Emanuela Delluniversita,Roberto Terzano,Pauline Dugas,Gwenolé Jouanic,Alain Queffelec,Andrea D'Andrea,Rosario Valentini,Eleonora Minucci,Laura Carpentiero,Marcello Piperno +30 more
TL;DR: The diversity of tools and activities observed in these three sites shows that Western Europe was populated by adaptable hominins during this time, and questions concerning understudied migration pathways, such as the Sicilian route are raised.
Journal ArticleDOI
The era of reference genomes in conservation genomics.

TL;DR: In this article , a large-scale generation of reference genomes representing global biodiversity is discussed. But the authors focus on the large-size generation of the reference genomes and do not discuss how to generate reference genomes for the conservation genomics.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genome of the Komodo dragon reveals adaptations in the cardiovascular and chemosensory systems of monitor lizards
Abigail L. Lind,Yvonne Y. Y. Lai,Yulia Mostovoy,Alisha K. Holloway,Alessio Iannucci,Angel C.Y. Mak,Marco Fondi,Valerio Orlandini,Walter L. Eckalbar,Massimo Milan,Michail Rovatsos,Michail Rovatsos,I. Pollard,Benoit G. Bruneau,Benoit G. Bruneau +33 more
TL;DR: The genome of the Komodo dragon Varanus komodoensis is sequences and genetic changes associated with its unique sensory, cardiovascular and muscular systems are revealed, suggesting that selective pressure altered haemostasis genes to help Komodo dragons evade the anticoagulant effects of their own saliva.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genetic load: genomic estimates and applications in non-model animals
Giorgio Bertorelle,Francesca Raffini,Mirte Bosse,Chiara Bortoluzzi,Alessio Iannucci,Emiliano Trucchi,Hernán E. Morales,Cock van Oosterhout +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors present approaches to quantify the genetic load in whole-genome sequence data based on evolutionary conservation and annotations, and show that splitting the load into its two components -the realized load and the masked load -can improve our understanding of the population genetics of deleterious mutations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sensitivity of hypogean and epigean freshwater copepods to agricultural pollutants.
T. Di Lorenzo,W. D. Di Marzio,María Elena Sáenz,Mariella Baratti,A. A. Dedonno,Alessio Iannucci,Stefano Cannicci,Giuseppe Messana,Diana M. P. Galassi +8 more
TL;DR: A comparative analysis of the available literature data on the sensitivity of freshwater copepods to agricultural pollutants found the hypogean species was more sensitive than the epigean one to all chemicals and ionized ammonia proved to be more toxic than the herbicides.
