Journal ArticleDOI

DNA Sequence of the Long Terminal Repeat of Human Immunodeficiency Virus Type 1 Subtype A through G

TL;DR: A collection of the LTR sequences from seven different HIV-1 subtypes and intersubtype recombinants representing different geographic origins are characterized and a discrepant topology was observed in the V3, p17, or LTR phylogenetic tree in 5 of the 28 HIV- 1 strains.
Journal ArticleDOI

Human and murine antibody recognition is focused on the ATPase/Helicase, but not the protease domain of the hepatitis C virus nonstructural 3 protein

TL;DR: The human and murine humoral immune responses to the HCV NS3 protein are focused on the ATPase/helicase domain, are restricted to the IgG1 isotype in humans, and are conformationally dependent.
Journal ArticleDOI

Longitudinal Quantification of Human Immunodeficiency Virus Type 1 DNA and RNA in Long-Term Nonprogressors

TL;DR: The restricted viral replication and the declining HIV-1 DNA levels suggest that the HIV- 1 infection can be controlled efficiently in a few LTNPs, leading to a decrease in the total virus burden with time.
Journal ArticleDOI

Initiation of Therapy during Primary HIV Type 1 Infection Results in a Continuous Decay of Proviral DNA and a Highly Restricted Viral Evolution

TL;DR: It is suggested that early and successful therapy in compliant subjects with primary HIV-1 infection results in a highly restricted viral evolution and a decline in the proviral load close to the decay rate of human memory T lymphocytes.
