Journal ArticleDOI
Multiplicity of Asymptomatic Plasmodium falciparum Infections and Risk of Clinical Malaria: A Systematic Review and Pooled Analysis of Individual Participant Data.
Martina Eldh,Ulf Hammar,David E. Arnot,Hans-Peter Beck,André Garcia,Anne Liljander,Odile Mercereau-Puijalon,Florence Migot-Nabias,Ivo Mueller,Francine Ntoumi,Francine Ntoumi,Amanda Ross,Thomas J. Smith,Klara Sondén,Klara Sondén,Manijeh Vafa Homann,Victor Yman,Ingrid Felger,Anna Färnert,Anna Färnert +19 more
TL;DR: Multiclonal asymptomatic P. falciparum infections were associated with a somewhat increased subsequent risk of clinical malaria in the youngest children, followed by an initial declining risk with age irrespective of transmission intensity, and in older children in moderate-, low-, and seasonal-transmission settings, multiclonal infections were either not significantly associated with the risk of subsequent febrile malaria or were related with an increased risk.
Journal ArticleDOI
Soluble human leukocyte antigen -G during pregnancy and infancy in Benin: Mother/child resemblance and association with the risk of malaria infection and low birth weight
Tania d’Almeida,Tania d’Almeida,Ibrahim Sadissou,Jacqueline Milet,Jacqueline Milet,Gilles Cottrell,Gilles Cottrell,Amandine Mondière,Euripide Avokpaho,Laure Gineau,Audrey Sabbagh,Achille Massougbodji,Kabirou Moutairou,Eduardo Antônio Donadi,Benoit Favier,Edgardo D. Carosella,Philippe Moreau,Nathalie Rouas-Freiss,David Courtin,David Courtin,André Garcia,André Garcia +21 more
TL;DR: A first insight is provided concerning the potential role of sHLA-G as a biomarker of weakness for newborns and infants in pregnancy and the factors associated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Plasmodium falciparum merozoite surface antigen-specific cytophilic IgG and control of malaria infection in a Beninese birth cohort.
Rafiou Adamou,Rafiou Adamou,Célia Dechavanne,Ibrahim Sadissou,Tania d’Almeida,Aziz Bouraima,Paulin Sonon,Paulin Sonon,Roukiyath Amoussa,Gilles Cottrell,Agnès Le Port,Michael Theisen,Michael Theisen,Michael Theisen,Edmond J. Remarque,Shirley Longacre,Kabirou Moutairou,Achille Massougbodji,Adrian J. F. Luty,Adrian J. F. Luty,Gregory Nuel,Florence Migot-Nabias,Ambaliou Sanni,André Garcia,André Garcia,Jacqueline Milet,D. Courtin +26 more
TL;DR: In this cohort, merozoite antigen-specific cytophilic IgG levels represent a marker of malaria exposure in infants from 6 to 18 months of age, however, infants with resolution of asymptomatic infection (CAIG) seem to have acquired naturally immunity against P. falciparum.
Journal ArticleDOI
First genome-wide association study of non-severe malaria in two birth cohorts in Benin
Jacqueline Milet,Anne Boland,Pierre Luisi,Audrey Sabbagh,Ibrahim Sadissou,Paulin Sonon,Nadia Domingo,Friso P. Palstra,Laure Gineau,David Courtin,Achille Massougbodji,André Garcia,Jean-François Deleuze,Hervé Perdry +13 more
TL;DR: Results shows that GWAS on non-severe malaria can successfully identify new candidate genes and inform physiological mechanisms underlying natural protection against malaria.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of a Single Standard Dose (150-200 μg/kg) of Ivermectin on Loa loa Microfilaremia: Systematic Review and Meta-analysis.
Sébastien D Pion,Jules B. Tchatchueng-Mbougua,Cédric B. Chesnais,Joseph Kamgno,Jacques Gardon,Jean-Philippe Chippaux,Stéphane Ranque,Jean-Christophe Ernould,André Garcia,Michel Boussinesq +9 more
TL;DR: A single dose of IVM is very effective at substantially reducing L. loa MFD for at least a year, irrespective of the initial level of parasitemia.
