Journal ArticleDOI
Central role of Drosophila SU(VAR)3-9 in histone H3-K9 methylation and heterochromatic gene silencing.
Gunnar Schotta,Anja Ebert,Veiko Krauss,Andreas Fischer,Jan Hoffmann,Stephen Rea,Thomas Jenuwein,Rainer Dorn,Gunter Reuter +8 more
TL;DR: A central role for the SU(VAR)3–9 HMTase in heterochromatin‐induced gene silencing in Drosophila is indicated and the human SUV39H1 gene is able to partially rescue Su(var)3-9 silencing defects.
Journal ArticleDOI
Deciphering the cryptic genome : genome-wide analyses of the rice pathogen Fusarium fujikuroi reveal complex regulation of secondary metabolism and novel metabolites
Philipp Wiemann,Christian M. K. Sieber,Katharina Walburga von Bargen,Lena Studt,Eva-Maria Niehaus,José J. Espino,Kathleen Huß,Caroline B. Michielse,Sabine Albermann,Dominik Wagner,Sonja Verena Bergner,Lanelle R. Connolly,Andreas Fischer,Gunter Reuter,Karin Kleigrewe,Till Bald,Brenda D. Wingfield,Ron Ophir,Stanley Freeman,Michael Hippler,Kristina M. Smith,Daren W. Brown,Robert H. Proctor,Martin Münsterkötter,Michael Freitag,Hans-Ulrich Humpf,Ulrich Güldener,Bettina Tudzynski +27 more
TL;DR: Combined comparative genomics and genome-wide experimental analyses identified novel genes and secondary metabolites that contribute to the evolutionary success of F. fujikuroi as a rice pathogen.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Arabidopsis thaliana genome contains at least 29 active genes encoding SET domain proteins that can be assigned to four evolutionarily conserved classes
Lars Oliver Baumbusch,Tage Thorstensen,Veiko Krauss,Veiko Krauss,Andreas Fischer,Kathrin Naumann,Reza Assalkhou,Ingo Schulz,Gunter Reuter,Reidunn B. Aalen +9 more
TL;DR: The identification of putative nuclear localization signals and AT-hooks in many of the proteins supports an anticipated nuclear localization, which was demonstrated for selected proteins.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pivotal role of AtSUVH2 in heterochromatic histone methylation and gene silencing in Arabidopsis
Kathrin Naumann,Andreas Fischer,Ingo Hofmann,Veiko Krauss,Sameer Phalke,Kristina Irmler,Gerd Hause,Anne-Cathleen Aurich,Rainer Dorn,Thomas Jenuwein,Gunter Reuter +10 more
TL;DR: In Arabidopsis, SUVH2 with its histone H3K9 and H4K20 methylation activity has a central role in heterochromatic gene silencing and displays strong dosage‐dependent effects.
Journal ArticleDOI
Epigenetic programming via histone methylation at WRKY53 controls leaf senescence in Arabidopsis thaliana.
TL;DR: It is shown that these processes include discrete changes of epigenetic indexing, as well as global alterations in chromatin organization, which suggest that complex epigenetic processes control the senescence-specific gene expression pattern.
