Initial Glaucomatous Optic Disk and Retinal Nerve Fiber Layer Abnormalities and Their Progression
TL;DR: There seems to be great variability in the appearance and progression of the initial glaucomatous optic disk and nerve fiber layer abnormalities in patients with increased intraocular pressure.
Journal ArticleDOI
Latanoprost, a prostaglandin analog, for glaucoma therapy. Efficacy and safety after 1 year of treatment in 198 patients. Latanoprost Study Groups.

TL;DR: In this article, Latanoprost was applied once daily for 12 months in patients from Scandinavia, the United Kingdom, and the United States who had elevated intraocular pressure (IOP).
Journal ArticleDOI
Nerve Fiber Layer Defects with Normal Visual Fields: Do Normal Optic Disc and Normal Visual Field Indicate Absence of Glaucomatous Abnormality?
TL;DR: The results indicate that retinal nerve fiber layer photographs are helpful in diagnosing glaucoma because early glAUcomatous abnormalities cannot be excluded without nerve Fiber layer photography.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: For confirmed ocular hypertension, findings suggest that there is no clear benefit from intensive monitoring, and the best available glaucoma risk prediction model estimated the 5-year risk based on age and ocular predictors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Medical versus surgical interventions for open angle glaucoma.
TL;DR: Evidence from one trial suggests, for mild OAG, that VF deterioration up to five-years is not significantly different whether treatment is initiated with medication or trabeculectomy, and there is some evidence, for more severe O AG, that initial medication is associated with greater VF deteriorated than surgery.
