Flaxseeds for body weight management
TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a method for reducing fat uptake in the gastrointestinal tract of a mammal in order to prevent a positive energy balance, weight gain, overweight and obesity, and to induce a negative energy balance and weight loss in subjects who wish to reduce their body weight.
Journal ArticleDOI
Supplementation with dairy calcium and/or flaxseed fibers in conjunction with orlistat augments fecal fat excretion without altering ratings of gastrointestinal comfort.
TL;DR: The results do not support an improvement in orlistat-induced gastrointestinal side effects by concomitant use of flaxseed fiber and Ca, but fecal fat excretion was increased with both FF and Ca in the absence of a worsening of symptoms, warranting further studies powered to detect potential additive weight loss effects.
