Journal ArticleDOI
The effect of the triple monoamine reuptake inhibitor tesofensine on energy metabolism and appetite in overweight and moderately obese men
Anders Sjödin,Christoph Gasteyger,Anne-Louise Hother Nielsen,A. Raben,J.D. Mikkelsen,J. K. S. Jensen,Dieter H. Meier,Arne Astrup +7 more
TL;DR: TE has a pronounced effect on appetite sensations and a slight effect on energy expenditure at night—both effects can contribute to the strong weight-reducing effect of TE.
Journal ArticleDOI
A Low Glycemic Index Diet Does Not Affect Postprandial Energy Metabolism but Decreases Postprandial Insulinemia and Increases Fullness Ratings in Healthy Women
Inger Krog-Mikkelsen,Birgitte Sloth,Dimiter V. Dimitrov,Inge Tetens,Inger Björck,Anne Flint,Jens J. Holst,Arne Astrup,Helena Elmståhl,Anne Raben +9 more
TL;DR: Postprandial glycemia, insulinemia, and subjective appetite ratings after a test meal were better after 10-wk ad libitum intake of a LGI compared to a HGI diet, giving some support to recommendations to consume aLGI diet.
Journal Article
Obesity : an inherited metabolic deficiency in the control of macronutrient balance ?
Arne Astrup,A Raben +1 more
TL;DR: The development of obesity may be viewed as a regulatory mechanism by which the impaired lipid oxidation rate is raised to match a high fat intake, and by decreasing the dietary ratio of fat to carbohydrate, macronutrient balance may be achieved with a high energy expenditure and a normal body composition.
Journal ArticleDOI
Transcriptome profiling from adipose tissue during a low-calorie diet reveals predictors of weight and glycemic outcomes in obese, nondiabetic subjects
Claudia Armenise,Gregory Lefebvre,Jérôme Carayol,Sophie Bonnel,Jennifer Bolton,Alessandro Di Cara,Nele Gheldof,Patrick Descombes,Dominique Langin,Dominique Langin,Wim H. M. Saris,Arne Astrup,Jörg Hager,Nathalie Viguerie,Armand Valsesia +14 more
TL;DR: Gene expression combined with clinical variables enabled us to distinguish weight and glycemic responders from nonresponders and may help clinicians understand intersubject variability and better predict the success of dietary interventions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Long-term weight-loss maintenance in obese patients with knee osteoarthritis: a randomized trial.
Pia Christensen,Marius Henriksen,Else Marie Bartels,Anthony R. Leeds,Thomas Meinert Larsen,Henrik Gudbergsen,B.F. Riecke,Arne Astrup,Berit L. Heitmann,Mikael Boesen,Robin Christensen,Henning Bliddal +11 more
TL;DR: After a mean 10% weight-loss and 1-y maintenance, additional use of daily meal replacements or intermittent LED resulted in weight- Loss maintenance for 3 y, challenging the commonly held assumption that weight regain in the long term is inevitable.
