Metabolic changes during treatment with valproate in humans: Implication for untoward weight gain☆
Leif Breum,Arne Astrup,Lennart Gram,Teis Andersen,Knud H. Stokholm,Niels Johan Christensen,Lene Werdelin,Joop Madsen +7 more
TL;DR: It is hypothesized that a possible VPA-induced deficiency of the beta-oxidation of fatty acids is important for the development of obesity in epileptic patients in long-term treatment with VPA, but changes in catecholamines or other hormones might also be of importance.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dietary Glycemic Index and Load and the Risk of Type 2 Diabetes: Assessment of Causal Relations.

TL;DR: The high confidence in causal associations for incident T2D is sufficient to consider inclusion of GI and GL in food and nutrient-based recommendations, and the cost–benefit analysis suggests food and nutrition advice favors lower GI or GL and would produce significant potential cost savings in national healthcare budgets.
Journal ArticleDOI
Food intake is inhibited by oral oleoylethanolamide.
TL;DR: It is shown that oral OEA inhibits food intake dose dependently at 90 min after food presentation to starved rats, which reveals unexpected properties of orally administered OEA, which may have potential as a cheap and safe antiobesity drug.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of alginate supplementation on weight loss in obese subjects completing a 12-wk energy-restricted diet: a randomized controlled trial
TL;DR: It is suggested that alginate supplementation as an adjunct to energy restriction may improve weight loss in obese subjects who complete a 12-wk dietary intervention.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sociodemographic differences in dietary habits described by food frequency questions--results from Denmark.
TL;DR: The selected food frequency questions proved sufficient to describe sociodemographic differences in dietary habits, and this method may be a valuable supplement to traditional quantitative dietary surveys in monitoring sociodEMographic changes in eating patterns.
