The circumstellar environment of R Coronae Borealis: White dwarf merger or final-helium-shell flash?
Geoffrey C. Clayton,Ben Sugerman,S. Adam Stanford,Barbara A. Whitney,Barbara A. Whitney,J. Honor,Brian Babler,M. J. Barlow,Karl D. Gordon,Jennifer E. Andrews,T. R. Geballe,Howard E. Bond,O. De Marco,Warrick A. Lawson,B. Sibthorpe,Göran Olofsson,Edward Polehampton,Edward Polehampton,Haley Louise Gomez,Mikako Matsuura,Mikako Matsuura,Peter Charles Hargrave,Rob Ivison,Roger Wesson,S. J. Leeks,B. M. Swinyard,T. L. Lim +26 more
TL;DR: The spectral energy distribution of R Coronae Borealis (R CrB) can be well fitted by a 150 AU disk surrounded by a very large diffuse envelope which corresponds to the size of the observed nebulosity as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI
IS DUST FORMING ON THE RED GIANT BRANCH IN 47 Tuc
Martha L. Boyer,Jacco Th. van Loon,Iain McDonald,Karl D. Gordon,Brian Babler,Miwa Block,S. Bracker,Charles W. Engelbracht,Joseph L. Hora,Remy Indebetouw,Marilyn R. Meade,Margaret Meixner,Karl Misselt,Marta Sewilo,Bernie Shiao,Barbara A. Whitney +15 more
TL;DR: Using Spitzer IRAC observations from the SAGE-SMC Legacy program and archived SpitzerIRAC data, this paper investigated dust production in 47Tuc, a nearby massive Galactic globular cluster.
Journal ArticleDOI
A spatially resolved study of photoelectric heating and (C II) cooling in the LMC Comparison with dust emission as seen by SAGE
D. Rubin,Sacha Hony,S. C. Madden,Alexander G. G. M. Tielens,Margaret Meixner,Remy Indebetouw,William T. Reach,Adam Ginsburg,Sungeun Kim,K. Mochizuki,Brian Babler,Miwa Block,S. Bracker,Charles W. Engelbracht,B. Q. For,Karl D. Gordon,Joseph L. Hora,Claus Leitherer,Marilyn R. Meade,Karl Misselt,Marta Sewilo,U. Vijh,B. A. Whitney +22 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors quantify the importance of the [C II] cooling line and the photoelectric heating process of various environments in the LMC and investigate which parameters control the extent of photoelectric heat.
Journal ArticleDOI
Spitzer IRAC observations of newly discovered planetary nebulae from the MACQUARIE-AAO-Strasbourg Hα planetary nebula project
Martin Cohen,Quentin A. Parker,Anne J. Green,Tara Murphy,Brent Miszalski,David J. Frew,Marilyn R. Meade,Brian Babler,Remy Indebetouw,Barbara A. Whitney,C. Watson,Ed Churchwell,D. F. Watson +12 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors compare H?, radio continuum and Spitzer Space Telescope images of 58 planetary nebulae (PNe) recently discovered by the Macquarie-AAO-Strasbourg H? PN Project (MASH) of the SuperCOSMOS H? Survey.
Journal ArticleDOI
Spitzer Analysis of HII Region Complexes in the Magellanic Clouds: Determining a Suitable Monochromatic Obscured Star Formation Indicator
Brandon Lawton,Karl D. Gordon,Brian Babler,Miwa Block,Alberto D. Bolatto,S. Bracker,Lynn Redding Carlson,Charles W. Engelbracht,Joseph L. Hora,Remy Indebetouw,Suzanne C. Madden,Marilyn R. Meade,Margaret Meixner,Karl Misselt,M. S. Oey,Joana M. Oliveira,Thomas P. Robitaille,Marta Sewilo,Bernie Shiao,Uma P. Vijh,Barbara A. Whitney +20 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors use the Spitzer IRAC and MIPS bands to determine the monochromatic IR band that most accurately traces the bolometric IR flux (TIR), which can then be used to estimate an obscured SFR.
