Journal ArticleDOI
Clinical and genetic features of adrenocortical lesions in multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1.
Britt Skogseid,Catharina Larsson,P. G. Lindgren,E Kvanta,Jonas Rastad,Elvar Theodorsson,Leif Wide,Erik Wilander,Kjell Öberg +8 more
TL;DR: Despite its prevalence and malignant potential, the pituitary-independent adrenocortical proliferation does not appear to be a primary lesion in MEN-1, but might represent a secondary phenomenon, perhaps related to the pancreatic endocrine tumor.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mutation analysis of the MEN1 gene in multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1, familial acromegaly and familial isolated hyperparathyroidism
Bin Tean Teh,Soili Kytölä,Filip Farnebo,L. Bergman,Fung Ki Wong,Günther Weber,Nicholas K. Hayward,Catharina Larsson,Britt Skogseid,Albert Beckers,Catherine M. Phelan,Matthew S. Edwards,M. Epstein,Frank P. Alford,D Hurley,Sean M. Grimmond,Ginters Silins,Marilyn K. Walters,Christine Stewart,John Cardinal,Shideh Khodaei,Fabienne Parente,L. Tranebjærg,R. Jorde,J. Menon,A. Khir,T. T. Tan,Siew Pheng Chan,A. Zaini,B. A. K. Khalid,Kerstin Sandelin,Norman W. Thompson,M. L. Brandi,M. Warth,John L. Stock,J. Leisti,David Cameron,Joseph J. Shepherd,Kjell Öberg,Magnus Nordenskjöld,Pasi I. Salmela +40 more
TL;DR: No mutation was found in any of the acromegaly and small FIHP families, suggesting that genetic defects other than the MEN1 gene might be involved and that additional such families need to be analyzed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Parathyroid MEN1 gene mutations in relation to clinical characteristics of nonfamilial primary hyperparathyroidism.
Tobias Carling,Pamela Correa,Ola Hessman,Jakob Hedberg,Britt Skogseid,Daniel Lindberg,Jonas Rastad,Gunnar Westin,Göran Åkerström +8 more
TL;DR: The demonstration of LOH at 11q13 and MEN1 gene mutations in small parathyroid adenomas of patients with slight hypercalcemia and normal serum PTH levels suggest that altered Men1 gene function may also be important for the development of mild sporadic pHPT.
Journal ArticleDOI
Radiofrequency tissue ablation using cooled tip for liver metastases of endocrine tumors.
TL;DR: Radiofrequency treatment using cooled-tip needles is safe and efficient; it may be performed percutaneously and intraoperatively; and it may expand the indications for liver resection.
Journal ArticleDOI
Preoperative Diagnosis and Surgical Management of Neuroendocrine Gastroenteropancreatic Tumors: General Recommendations by a Consensus Workshop*
Bertram Wiedenmann,Robert T. Jensen,Michel Mignon,C.I. Modlin,Britt Skogseid,Gerard M. Doherty,Kjell Öberg +6 more
TL;DR: This paper summarizes the various opinions brought forward during a consensus workshop on the preoperative diagnosis and surgical treatment of neuroendocrine tumor disease and emphasizes consensus approaches for the diagnosis and therapy of neuro endocrine neoplasms.
