U1 snRNP regulates cancer cell migration and invasion in vitro
Jung-Min Oh,Christopher C. Venters,Chao Di,Anna Maria Pinto,Lili Wan,Ihab Younis,Zhiqiang Cai,Chie Arai,Byung Ran So,Jingqi Duan,Gideon Dreyfuss +10 more
TL;DR: An unexpected role for U1 homeostasis (available U1 relative to transcription) in oncogenic and activated cell states is revealed, and U1 is suggested as a potential target for their modulation.
Posted ContentDOI
U1 snRNP regulates cancer cell migration and invasion
Jung-Min Oh,Christopher C. Venters,Chao Di,Anna Maria Pinto,Lili Wan,Ihab Younis,Zhiqiang Cai,Chie Arai,Byung Ran So,Gideon Dreyfuss +9 more
TL;DR: It is shown that U1 AMO also modulates cancer cells’ phenotype, dose-dependently increasing migration and invasion in vitro by up to 500%, whereas U1 over-expression has the opposite effect.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structure of a Key Intermediate of the SMN Complex Reveals Gemin2's Crucial Function in snRNP Assembly
Rundong Zhang,Rundong Zhang,Byung Ran So,Byung Ran So,Pilong Li,Pilong Li,Jeongsik Yong,Jeongsik Yong,Tina Glisovic,Tina Glisovic,Lili Wan,Lili Wan,Gideon Dreyfuss,Gideon Dreyfuss +13 more
TL;DR: The 2.5 Å crystal structure of Gemin2 bound to SmD1/D2/F/E/G pentamer and SMN's Gemin 2-binding domain, a key assembly intermediate, is described, providing insight into SMN complex assembly and specificity, linking snRNP biogenesis and SMA pathogenesis.
Journal ArticleDOI
U1 snRNP telescripting regulates a size-function-stratified human genome.
Jung-Min Oh,Chao Di,Christopher C. Venters,Jiannan Guo,Chie Arai,Byung Ran So,Anna Maria Pinto,Zhenxi Zhang,Lili Wan,Ihab Younis,Gideon Dreyfuss +10 more
TL;DR: It is proposed that telescripting adds an overarching layer of regulation to size–function-stratified genomes, leveraged by selective intron expansion to rapidly shift gene expression priorities.
Journal ArticleDOI
Resampling and Editing of Mischarged tRNA Prior to Translation Elongation
Jiqiang Ling,Byung Ran So,Srujana S. Yadavalli,Hervé Roy,Shinichiro Shoji,Kurt Fredrick,Karin Musier-Forsyth,Michael Ibba +7 more
TL;DR: It is shown that aminoacyl-tRNAs in ternary complex with EF-Tu*GTP can readily dissociate and rebind to aminoacyL-tRNA synthetases, allowing resampling by the product editing pathway, leading to a reduction in the overall error rate of aminoacyr-t RNA synthesis.
