Performance of the neutron time-of-flight facility n_TOF at CERN

Carlos Guerrero, +116 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present the characteristics of the new neutron beam in the currently available configurations, which correspond to two different collimation systems and two choices of neutron moderator, including the intensity and energy dependence of the neutron flux, the spatial profile of the beam, the in-beam background components and the energy resolution/broadening.
Journal ArticleDOI

High-accuracy determination of the neutron flux at n_TOF

Mario Barbagallo, +115 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors measured the neutron flux of the n_TOF facility at CERN, after installation of the new spallation target, with four different systems based on three neutron-converting reactions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Neutron spectroscopy of 26Mg states: Constraining the stellar neutron source 22Ne(α,n)25Mg

Cristian Massimi, +123 more
- 10 May 2017 -
TL;DR: In this article, high-resolution measurements of the 25Mg(n,γ)26Mg and 25mg(m,γ)-n,tot cross sections in the neutron energy range from thermal to about 300 keV have been obtained, leading to a significantly improved 25 mg(p,γ,n)26 mg parametrization, and the relevant resonances for n+25 mg were characterized from a combined R-matrix analysis of the experimental data.
Journal ArticleDOI

GEANT4 simulation of the neutron background of the C6D6 set-up for capture studies at n_TOF

Petar Žugec, +105 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a simulation of the C6D6 detector setup used at TOF for capture measurements has been studied by means of detailed GEANT4 simulations, in particular by applying the Pulse Height Weighting Technique.
Journal ArticleDOI

Measurement of the angular distribution of fission fragments using a PPAC assembly at CERN n_TOF

D. Tarrío, +104 more
TL;DR: In this article, a fission reaction chamber based on Parallel Plate Avalanche Counters (PPACs) was built for measuring angular distributions of fragments emitted in neutron-induced fission of actinides at the neutron beam available at the Neutron Time-Of-Flight (n_TOF) facility at CERN.
