Roberts,Carlos Escudero +17 more
TL;DR: There is a lack both in the amount and impact of research conducted in Latin America on vascular disorders related to problems during pregnancy, and the need for increased effective regional and international collaboration to generate new data specific to this region is related.
Journal ArticleDOI
Paternal Determinants in Preeclampsia.
Carlos Galaviz-Hernández,Martha Sosa-Macías,Enrique Teran,José Elías García-Ortiz,Blanca Patricia Lazalde-Ramos +4 more
TL;DR: The evidences of the father’s contribution to the onset of preeclampsia are evaluated and the importance of including them in future studies is determined to determine.
Journal ArticleDOI
Methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase gene polymorphisms and the risk of anencephaly in Mexico.
Julia Blanco Muñoz,Marina Lacasaña,Ricardo García Cavazos,Víctor Hugo Borja-Aburto,Carlos Galaviz-Hernández,Clemente Aguilar Garduño +5 more
TL;DR: The association found between maternal 677TT genotype and anencephaly and the elevated presence of the 677T allele among Mexican women of fertile age urges intensifying folic acid supplementation which has proved to modify this genetic risk in other populations.

Acupoint catgut embedding therapy with moxibustion reduces the risk of diabetes in obese women.
Jessica M. Garcia-Vivas,Carlos Galaviz-Hernández,Flavia Becerril-Chavez,Francisco Lozano-Rodriguez,Absalom Zamorano-Carrillo,César López-Camarillo,Laurence A. Marchat +6 more
TL;DR: Interestingly, this treatment was able to bring back obese women to a state of insulin sensitivity, indicating that acupoint catgut embedding therapy combined with moxibustion could be useful as a complementary therapy to reduce the risk of diabetes associated to obesity in women.
Journal ArticleDOI
CYP2D6 gene polymorphisms and predicted phenotypes in eight indigenous groups from northwestern Mexico
Blanca Patricia Lazalde-Ramos,Margarita L Martinez-Fierro,Carlos Galaviz-Hernández,Idalia Garza-Veloz,María Eugenia G Naranjo,Martha Sosa-Macías,Adrián LLerena +6 more
TL;DR: The data show a lower frequency of CYP2D6 inactive alleles and a higher frequency of duplication/multiplication of CYp2D 6 active alleles in indigenous populations that in Mestizos.
