Journal ArticleDOI
A colorectal cancer classification system that associates cellular phenotype and responses to therapy
Anguraj Sadanandam,Costas A. Lyssiotis,Costas A. Lyssiotis,Krisztian Homicsko,Krisztian Homicsko,Eric A. Collisson,William J. Gibb,Stephan Wullschleger,Liliane C Gonzalez Ostos,William A Lannon,William A Lannon,Carsten Grötzinger,Maguy Del Rio,Benoit Lhermitte,Adam B. Olshen,Bertram Wiedenmann,Lewis C. Cantley,Lewis C. Cantley,Joe W. Gray,Douglas Hanahan +19 more
TL;DR: Three subtypes have markedly better disease-free survival (DFS) after surgical resection, suggesting these patients might be spared from the adverse effects of chemotherapy when they have localized disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Receptor-targeted optical imaging of tumors with near-infrared fluorescent ligands.
Andreas Becker,Carsten Hessenius,Kai Licha,Bernd Ebert,Uwe Sukowski,Wolfhard Semmler,Bertram Wiedenmann,Carsten Grötzinger +7 more
TL;DR: In vivo diagnostic use of a peptide–dye conjugate consisting of a cyanine dye and the somatostatin analog octreotate as a contrast agent for optical tumor imaging, combining the specificity of ligand/receptor interaction with near-infrared fluorescence detection is reported.
Journal ArticleDOI
A cross-species analysis in pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors reveals molecular subtypes with distinctive clinical, metastatic, developmental, and metabolic characteristics
Anguraj Sadanandam,Anguraj Sadanandam,Anguraj Sadanandam,Stephan Wullschleger,Costas A. Lyssiotis,Carsten Grötzinger,Stefano Barbi,Samantha Bersani,Jan L. Körner,Ismael Wafy,Andrea Mafficini,Rita T. Lawlor,Michele Simbolo,John M. Asara,Hendrik Bläker,Lewis C. Cantley,Bertram Wiedenmann,Aldo Scarpa,Douglas Hanahan +18 more
TL;DR: Support is provided for the RIP1-TAG2 mouse model as representative of its cognate human cancer with prospects to better understand PanNET heterogeneity and consider future applications of personalized cancer therapy.
Journal ArticleDOI
LI-cadherin: a marker of gastric metaplasia and neoplasia
Carsten Grötzinger,J Kneifel,D Patschan,N Schnoy,I Anagnostopoulos,S Faiss,Rudolf Tauber,Bertram Wiedenmann,Reinhard Gessner +8 more
TL;DR: LI-cadherin represents a new, reliable, and powerful marker molecule for early detection of gastric intestinal metaplasia and well differentiated adenocarcinomas and to detect early metaplastic changes in the gastric mucosa.
Journal ArticleDOI
Interindividual Variation in DNA Methylation at a Putative POMC Metastable Epiallele Is Associated with Obesity.
Peter Kühnen,Daniela Handke,Robert A. Waterland,Branwen J. Hennig,Matt J. Silver,Anthony J. C. Fulford,Paula Dominguez-Salas,Paula Dominguez-Salas,Sophie E. Moore,Sophie E. Moore,Andrew M. Prentice,Joachim Spranger,Anke Hinney,Johannes Hebebrand,Frank L. Heppner,Lena Walzer,Carsten Grötzinger,Jörg Gromoll,Susanna Wiegand,Annette Grüters,Heiko Krude +20 more
TL;DR: Evidence is provided that methylation in a variably methylated region (VMR) in the pro-opiomelanocortin gene (POMC), particularly in postmortem human laser-microdissected melanocyte-stimulating hormone (MSH)-positive neurons, is strongly associated with individual BMI and that offspring methylation correlates with the paternal somatic methylation pattern.
