Ghrelin stimulates gastric emptying and hunger in normal-weight humans.
Fredrik Levin,T. Edholm,Peter T. Schmidt,P Grybäck,Hans Jacobsson,Marie Degerblad,Charlotte Höybye,Jens J. Holst,Jens F. Rehfeld,Per M. Hellström,Erik Näslund +10 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that ghrelin increases the gastric emptying rate in normal humans and the effect does not seem to be mediated via GH or motilin but may be mediated by the vagal nerve or directly on gh Relin receptors in the stomach.
Journal ArticleDOI
Growth hormone research society workshop summary: Consensus guidelines for recombinant human growth hormone therapy in Prader-Willi syndrome
Cheri Deal,Michele Tony,Charlotte Höybye,David B. Allen,Maithé Tauber,Jens Sandahl Christiansen,Geoffrey R Ambler,Renaldo N. Battista,Véronique Beauloye,Glenn Berall,Beverly M. K. Biller,Merlin G. TL;DR: Following a multidisciplinary evaluation, preferably by experts, rhGH treatment should be considered for patients with genetically confirmed PWS in conjunction with dietary, environmental, and lifestyle interventions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Adrenocorticotropic hormone-producing pituitary tumors: 12- to 22-year follow-up after treatment with stereotactic radiosurgery.
TL;DR: Stereotactic radiosurgery is a safe and effective method in the treatment of patients with adrenocorticotropic hormone-producing pituitary tumors, and the effect of treatment is long-lasting, according to retrospectively long-term outcomes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Deaths Among Adult Patients With Hypopituitarism: Hypocortisolism During Acute Stress, and De Novo Malignant Brain Tumors Contribute to an Increased Mortality
Pia Burman,Anders F Mattsson,Gudmundur Johannsson,Charlotte Höybye,Helene Holmer,Per Dahlqvist,Katarina Berinder,Britt Edén Engström,Bertil Ekman,Eva Marie Erfurth,Jonas Svensson,Jeanette Wahlberg,F A Karlsson +12 more
TL;DR: Two important causes of excess mortality were identified: first, adrenal crisis in response to acute stress and intercurrent illness; second, increased risk of a late appearance of de novo malignant brain tumors in patients who previously received radiotherapy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Long-Term Outcome and MGMT as a Predictive Marker in 24 Patients With Atypical Pituitary Adenomas and Pituitary Carcinomas Given Treatment With Temozolomide
Daniel Bengtsson,Henrik Daa Schrøder,Marianne Andersen,Dominique Maiter,Katarina Berinder,Ulla Feldt Rasmussen,Åse Krogh Rasmussen,Gudmundur Johannsson,Charlotte Höybye,Aart Jan van der Lely,Maria Petersson,Oskar Ragnarsson,Pia Burman +12 more
TL;DR: This study shows that TMZ is a valuable treatment option for patients with uncontrolled pituitary tumors and suggests that tumoral MGMT staining below 50% is associated with a high likelihood of treatment response.
