The Expansion Asymmetry and Age of the Cassiopeia A Supernova Remnant
Robert A. Fesen,Molly Hammell,Jon A. Morse,Roger A. Chevalier,Kazimierz J. Borkowski,Michael A. Dopita,Christopher L. Gerardy,Stephen S. Lawrence,John C. Raymond,Sidney van den Bergh +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used HST images of the young supernova remnant Cas A to explore the expansion and spatial distribution of its highest velocity debris, and they found significant gaps in the spatial distribution in directions that are approximately perpendicular to the jets (P.A. = 145 degrees-200 degrees and 335 degrees-350 degrees).
Journal ArticleDOI
The type ic hypernova sn 2002ap
Paolo A. Mazzali,Paolo A. Mazzali,J. Deng,Keiichi Maeda,Ken'ichi Nomoto,H. Umeda,Kazuhito Hatano,Koichi Iwamoto,Yuzuru Yoshii,Yukiyasu Kobayashi,Takeo Minezaki,Mamoru Doi,Keigo Enya,Hiroyuki Tomita,Stephen J. Smartt,Kenzo Kinugasa,Hideyo Kawakita,Kazuya Ayani,T. Kawabata,Hitoshi Yamaoka,Yulei Qiu,Kentaro Motohara,Christopher L. Gerardy,Robert A. Fesen,Koji S. Kawabata,Masanori Iye,Nobunari Kashikawa,George Kosugi,Y. Ohyama,Masahide Takada-Hidai,Gang Zhao,Ryan Chornock,Alexei V. Filippenko,Stefano Benetti,Massimo Turatto +34 more
TL;DR: In this paper, photometric and spectroscopic data of the energetic Type Ic supernova (SN) 2002ap are presented, and the properties of the SN are investigated through models of its spectral evolution and its light curve.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Expansion Asymmetry and Age of the Cassiopeia A Supernova Remnant
Robert A. Fesen,Molly Hammell,Jon A. Morse,Roger A. Chevalier,Kazimierz J. Borkowski,Michael A. Dopita,Christopher L. Gerardy,Stephen S. Lawrence,John C. Raymond,S. van den Bergh +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, HST ACS images of the young SN remnant Cas A are used to explore the expansion and spatial distribution of its highest velocity debris, and proper motions of over 1800 outlying ejecta knots are reported.
Journal ArticleDOI
Infrared Spectra of the Subluminous Type Ia Supernova SN 1999by
TL;DR: In this article, an extended set of delayed detonation (DD) models covering the entire range of normal to subluminous Type Ia supernova SNe Ia is presented, with the only free parameters being the initial structure of the white dwarf and description of the nuclear burning front during the explosion.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dust and the Type II-Plateau Supernova 2004et
Rubina Kotak,W. P. S. Meikle,Duncan Farrah,Christopher L. Gerardy,Ryan J. Foley,S. D. Van Dyk,Claes Fransson,Peter Lundqvist,Jesper Sollerman,Jesper Sollerman,Robert A. Fesen,Alexei V. Filippenko,Seppo Mattila,J. M. Silverman,Anja C. Andersen,P. Höflich,Monica Pozzo,John C Wheeler +17 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the spectral energy distribution of the Type II-plateau supernova (SN) 2004et was analyzed using the Spitzer Space Telescope between 64 and 1406 days past its explosion.
