Journal ArticleDOI
Oxeiptosis, a ROS-induced caspase-independent apoptosis-like cell-death pathway.
Cathleen Holze,Chloé Michaudel,Claire Mackowiak,Darya A. Haas,Christian Benda,Philipp Hubel,Friederike L. Pennemann,Daniel Schnepf,Jennifer Wettmarshausen,Marianne Braun,Daisy W. Leung,Gaya K. Amarasinghe,Fabiana Perocchi,Peter Staeheli,Bernhard Ryffel,Bernhard Ryffel,Andreas Pichlmair +16 more
TL;DR: A ROS-dependent form of cell death, ‘oxeiptosis’, that resembles apoptosis but uses a pathway distinct from all previously described death pathways is demonstrated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ozone exposure induces respiratory barrier biphasic injury and inflammation controlled by IL-33.
Chloé Michaudel,Claire Mackowiak,Isabelle Maillet,Louis Fauconnier,Cezmi A. Akdis,Milena Sokolowska,Anita Dreher,Hern-Tze Tina Tan,Valérie F. J. Quesniaux,Bernhard Ryffel,Bernhard Ryffel,Bernhard Ryffel,Dieudonnée Togbe +12 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the role of the IL-33/ST2 axis in lung inflammation on acute ozone exposure in mice was examined, and it was shown that ozone causes an immediate barrier injury that precedes myeloid cell-mediated inflammatory injury.
Journal ArticleDOI
Experimental atopic dermatitis depends on IL-33R signaling via MyD88 in dendritic cells.
Changwei Li,Changwei Li,Isabelle Maillet,Claire Mackowiak,Camille Viala,Franco Di Padova,Mei Li,Mei Li,Mei Li,Dieudonnée Togbe,Valérie F. J. Quesniaux,Yuping Lai,Bernhard Ryffel,Bernhard Ryffel +13 more
TL;DR: The data demonstrate a critical role of MyD88 in DCs and of IL-33 signaling via ST2 in MC903-induced AD and suggest that IL- 33/IL-33R may be a therapeutic target of AD.
Journal ArticleDOI
Acetylcholine production by group 2 innate lymphoid cells promotes mucosal immunity to helminths
Luke B. Roberts,Luke B. Roberts,Corinna Schnoeller,Rita Berkachy,Matthew Darby,Jamie Pillaye,Jamie Pillaye,Menno J. Oudhoff,Naveen Parmar,Claire Mackowiak,Delphine Sedda,Valérie F. J. Quesniaux,Bernhard Ryffel,Rachel Vaux,Kleoniki Gounaris,Sylvie Berrard,David R. Withers,William G. C. Horsnell,William G. C. Horsnell,William G. C. Horsnell,Murray E. Selkirk +20 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the cholinergic phenotype of pulmonary ILC2s was associated with their activation state, could be induced by in vivo exposure to extracts of Alternaria alternata or the alarmin cytokines interleukin-33 (IL-33) and IL-25, and was augmented by IL-2 in vitro.
Journal ArticleDOI
GM-CSF targeted immunomodulation affects host response to M. tuberculosis infection
Sulayman Benmerzoug,Sulayman Benmerzoug,Fábio V. Marinho,Fábio V. Marinho,Stéphanie Rose,Stéphanie Rose,Claire Mackowiak,Claire Mackowiak,David Gosset,Delphine Sedda,Delphine Sedda,Emeline Poisson,Emeline Poisson,Catherine Uyttenhove,Jacques Van Snick,Muazzam Jacobs,Muazzam Jacobs,Muazzam Jacobs,Irene Garcia,Bernhard Ryffel,Bernhard Ryffel,Bernhard Ryffel,Valérie F. J. Quesniaux,Valérie F. J. Quesniaux +23 more
TL;DR: In vitro, GM-CSF neutralization promoted M2 anti-inflammatory phenotype in M. bovis BCG infected macrophages, with reduced mycobactericidal NO production and higher intracellular M. tuberculosis bacilli burden.
