TL;DR: Comparison of satellite data against field surveys demonstrated a significant predictive relationship between accumulated heat stress (measured using NOAA Coral Reef Watch's Degree Heating Weeks) and bleaching intensity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Status and progress in coral reef disease research.
TL;DR: The role that various Vibrio species play in coral disease and health, the composition of the 'normal microbiota' of corals, and the possible role of viruses in the disease process are important additions to knowledge.
Journal Article
Spatial and seasonal variation of dark spots disease in coral communities of the Santa Marta area (Colombian Caribbean)
Journal ArticleDOI
The white band disease type II pathogen in Puerto Rico
TL;DR: Results of a preliminary approach to confirm the identity of the pathogen of white band disease type I (WBD-I) are presented, indicating that the potential cause of WBD-II is a Vibrio species very close toVibrio harveyi , a synonymy of V. charchariae .
Book ChapterDOI
Stony coral diseases observed in southwestern Caribbean reefs
TL;DR: Thirteen reef areas of Colombian territories in the Southwestern Caribbean were surveyed during the last 10 years and 25 species of hard corals were observed with diseases, of which Colpophyllia natans, Diploria labyrinthiformis, Montastraea annularis, M. faveolata and Acropora spp.
