Jose Luis Ortiz,Bruno Sicardy,Felipe Braga-Ribas,Alvaro Alvarez-Candal,Emmanuel Lellouch,Rene Duffard,Noemi Pinilla-Alonso,Valentin D. Ivanov,S. P. Littlefair,Julio Camargo,Marcelo Assafin,Eduardo Unda-Sanzana,Emmanuel Jehin,Nicolás Morales,Gonzalo Tancredi,Ricardo Gil-Hutton,I. de la Cueva,J. P. Colque,D. N. da Silva Neto,Jean Manfroid,Audrey Thirouin,P. J. Gutiérrez,J. Lecacheux,Michaël Gillon,Alain Maury,François Colas,Javier Licandro,T. G. Mueller,C. Jacques,D. Weaver,A. Milone,R. TL;DR: The disappearances and reappearances of the star were abrupt, showing that Makemake has no global Pluto-like atmosphere at an upper limit of 4–12 nanobar (1σ) for the surface pressure, although a localized atmosphere is possible.

TL;DR: Braga Ribas et al. as discussed by the authors proposed a method to improve the quality of the data collected by the data collection system of the government of Brazil, using data from the Ministerio de Ciencia, Tecnologia e Innovacao.
Journal ArticleDOI
Charon's size and an upper limit on its atmosphere from a stellar occultation
Bruno Sicardy,A. Bellucci,Eric Gendron,Francois Lacombe,S. Lacour,Jean Lecacheux,Emmanuel Lellouch,S. Renner,S. Pau,Françoise Roques,Thomas Widemann,François Colas,Frédéric Vachier,R. Vieira Martins,N. Ageorges,Olivier Hainaut,O. Marco,W. Beisker,E. Hummel,Carlos Feinstein,H. Levato,Alain Maury,E. Frappa,B Gaillard,M. Lavayssière,M. di Sora,F. Pimentel,D. Weaver,J-F Lecampion,F Doncel,T Momiyama,Gonzalo Tancredi +44 more
TL;DR: Observations from a multi-station stellar occultation by Charon are reported, which are used to derive the radius of Pluto and Charon, RC = 603.6 ± 1.4 km (1σ), and the density of ρ = 1.71 ± 0.08 g cm-3.3 (3σ) nanobar, assuming respectively a pure nitrogen or pure methane atmosphere.

Waelchli +48 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present evidence that four minor planets of the main belt are binary systems based on CCD photometric measurements made by many observers coordinated in a network of observatories.
