The size, shape, density and ring of the dwarf planet Haumea from a stellar occultation

Jose Luis Ortiz, +94 more
- 12 Oct 2017 -
TL;DR: Observations from multiple Earth-based observatories of Haumea passing in front of a distant star (a multi-chord stellar occultation) report the presence of a ring with an opacity of 0.5, which constrains the three-dimensional orientation of Haumesa and its triaxial shape, which is inconsistent with a homogeneous body in hydrostatic equilibrium.
Journal ArticleDOI

SORA: Stellar Occultation Reduction and Analysis

TL;DR: Sora as mentioned in this paper is an open-source python library to reduce and analyse stellar occultation data efficiently, including routines from predicting such events up to the determination of solar system bodies' sizes, shapes, and positions.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Trans-Neptunian Object (84922) 2003 VS2 through Stellar Occultations

TL;DR: In this article, the authors presented the TRAPPIST-South project at the La Silla Paranal Observatory in Spain with the support of the European Research Council under the European Community's H2020 (2014-2020/ERC grant agreement No. 669416 >LUCKY STAR>).
Journal ArticleDOI

Physical properties of the trans-Neptunian object (38628) Huya from a multi-chord stellar occultation

TL;DR: In this article , the authors predicted a stellar occultation by the TNO (38628) Huya of the star Gaia DR2 4352760586390566400 (m G = 11.5 mag.) on March 18, 2019.
