Journal ArticleDOI
Molecular Architecture of the Mouse Nervous System.
Amit Zeisel,Hannah Hochgerner,Peter Lönnerberg,Anna Johnsson,Fatima Memic,Job van der Zwan,Martin Häring,Emelie Braun,Lars E. Borm,Gioele La Manno,Simone Codeluppi,Alessandro Furlan,Kawai Lee,Nathan G. Skene,Kenneth D. Harris,Jens Hjerling-Leffler,Ernest Arenas,Patrik Ernfors,Ulrika Marklund,Sten Linnarsson +19 more
TL;DR: RNA sequencing of half a million single cells was used to create a detailed census of cell types in the mouse nervous system and mapped cell types spatially and derived a hierarchical, data-driven taxonomy.

TL;DR: RNA sequencing of half a million single cells is used to create a detailed census of cell types in the mouse nervous system and lays a solid foundation for understanding the molecular architecture of the mammalian nervous system, and enables genetic manipulation of specific cell types.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mutations in DMRT3 affect locomotion in horses and spinal circuit function in mice
Lisa S. Andersson,Martin Larhammar,Fatima Memic,Hanna Wootz,Doreen Schwochow,Carl-Johan Rubin,Kalicharan Patra,Thorvaldur Árnason,Lisbeth Wellbring,Göran Hjälm,Freyja Imsland,Jessica L. Petersen,Molly E. McCue,James R. Mickelson,Gus Cothran,Nadav Ahituv,Lars Roepstorff,Sofia Mikko,Anna Vallstedt,Gabriella Lindgren,Leif Andersson,Leif Andersson,Klas Kullander +22 more
TL;DR: This work shows that a premature stop codon in the DMRT3 gene has a major effect on the pattern of locomotion in horses, and positions Dmrt3 in a pivotal role for configuring the spinal circuits controlling stride in vertebrates.
Journal ArticleDOI
Identification of novel spinal cholinergic genetic subtypes disclose Chodl and Pitx2 as markers for fast motor neurons and partition cells.
Anders Enjin,Nadine Rabe,Stan T. Nakanishi,Anna Vallstedt,Henrik Gezelius,Fatima Memic,Magnus Lind,Tord A. Hjalt,Warren G. Tourtellotte,Carl E.G. Bruder,Gregor Eichele,Patrick J. Whelan,Klas Kullander +12 more
TL;DR: Evidence is presented that chondrolectin (Chodl) is expressed by fast motor neurons and that estrogen‐related receptor β (ERRβ) is a candidate marker for slow motor neurons, and paired‐like homeodomain transcription factor 2 (Pitx2) as a marker for cholinergic partition cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
Netrin-1-Dependent Spinal Interneuron Subtypes Are Required for the Formation of Left-Right Alternating Locomotor Circuitry
TL;DR: During development, Netrin-1 plays a critical role for the establishment of a functional balanced CPG, suggesting that the most ventral-originating excitatory commissural interneurons are an important component of a left-right synchrony circuit in the locomotor CPG.
