Defibrillator Implantation in Patients with Nonischemic Systolic Heart Failure
Lars Køber,Jens Jakob Thune,Jens Jakob Thune,Jens Nielsen,Jens Nielsen,Jens Haarbo,Jens Haarbo,Lars Videbæk,Eva Korup,Jensen G,Per Hildebrandt,Flemming Hald Steffensen,Niels Eske Bruun,Niels Eske Bruun,Niels Eske Bruun,Hans Eiskjær,Hans Eiskjær,Axel Brandes,Anna Margrethe Thøgersen,Finn Gustafsson,Kenneth Egstrup,Regitze Videbæk,Christian Hassager,Jesper Hastrup Svendsen,Dan Eik Høfsten,Christian Torp-Pedersen,S. Pehrson +26 more
TL;DR: In this trial, prophylactic ICD implantation in patients with symptomatic systolic heart failure not caused by coronary artery disease was not associated with a significantly lower long-term rate of death from any cause than was usual clinical care.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Risk of a Diagnosis of Cancer after Primary Deep Venous Thrombosis or Pulmonary Embolism
Henrik Toft Sørensen,Lene Mellemkjær,Flemming Hald Steffensen,Jørgen H. Olsen,Gunnar Lauge Nielsen +4 more
TL;DR: There were strong associations with several cancers, most pronounced for those of the pancreas, ovary, liver, liver (primary hepatic cancer), and brain.
Journal ArticleDOI
Coronary CT Angiographic and Flow Reserve-Guided Management of Patients With Stable Ischemic Heart Disease
Bjarne L. Nørgaard,Christian Juhl Terkelsen,Ole N. Mathiassen,Erik Lerkevang Grove,Hans Erik Bøtker,Erik T. Parner,Jonathon Leipsic,Flemming Hald Steffensen,Anders H. Riis,Kamilla Pedersen,Evald Høj Christiansen,Michael Maeng,Lars Romer Krusell,Steen Dalby Kristensen,Ashkan Eftekhari,Lars Jakobsen,Jesper M. Jensen +16 more
TL;DR: In patients with intermediate-range coronary stenosis, FFRCT is effective in differentiating patients who do not require further diagnostic testing or intervention from higher-risk patients (FFRCT ≤0.80) in whom further testing with invasive coronary angiography and possibly intervention may be needed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Age and Outcomes of Primary Prevention Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillators in Patients With Nonischemic Systolic Heart Failure.
Marie Bayer Elming,Jens Cosedis Nielsen,Jens Haarbo,Lars Videbæk,Eva Korup,Eva Korup,James Signorovitch,Line L Olesen,Per Hildebrandt,Flemming Hald Steffensen,Niels Eske Bruun,Niels Eske Bruun,Hans Eiskjær,Axel Brandes,Anna Margrethe Thøgersen,Anna Margrethe Thøgersen,Finn Gustafsson,Kenneth Egstrup,Regitze Videbæk,Christian Hassager,Jesper Hastrup Svendsen,Dan Eik Høfsten,Christian Torp-Pedersen,Christian Torp-Pedersen,S. Pehrson,Lars Køber,Jens Jakob Thune +26 more
TL;DR: In patients with systolic heart failure not caused by ischemic heart disease, the association between the ICD and survival decreased linearly with increasing age, and an age cutoff for ICD implantation at ⩽70 years yielded the highest survival for the population as a whole.
Journal ArticleDOI
Impact of Plaque Burden Versus Stenosis on Ischemic Events in Patients With Coronary Atherosclerosis.
Martin Bødtker Mortensen,Martin Bødtker Mortensen,Omar Dzaye,Flemming Hald Steffensen,Hans Erik Bøtker,Jesper Møller Jensen,Niels Peter Rønnow Sand,Kristian Kragholm,Henrik Toft Sørensen,Jonathon Leipsic,Michael Maeng,Michael J. Blaha,Bjarne L. Nørgaard +12 more
TL;DR: Patients with a comparable calcified atherosclerosis burden generally carry a similar risk for CVD events regardless of whether they have nonobstructive or obstructive CAD.
