Diffusion-weighted imaging of the spinal cord: interleaved echo-planar imaging is superior to fast spin-echo.
TL;DR: To compare and evaluate two novel diffusion‐weighted sequences, based either on fast spin‐echo (FSE) or interleaved echo‐planar imaging (EPI) methods, as potential tools for investing spinal cord abnormalities.
Journal ArticleDOI
Development of a neuropsychological battery for the Leukoaraiosis and Disability in the Elderly Study (LADIS): experience and baseline data.
Sofia Madureira,Ana Verdelho,José M. Ferro,Anna Maria Basile,Hugues Chabriat,Timo Erkinjuntti,Franz Fazekas,Michael G. Hennerici,John T. O'Brien,Leonardo Pantoni,Emilia Salvadori,Philip Scheltens,Marieke C. Visser,Lars-Olof Wahlund,Gunhild Waldemar,Anders Wallin,Domenico Inzitari +16 more
TL;DR: In the LADIS population baseline data, older age and lower educational levels negatively influence neuropsychological performance, and age and education remained important variables influencing test performance.
Journal ArticleDOI
EFNS guidelines on the use of neuroimaging in the management of motor neuron diseases.
Massimo Filippi,Federica Agosta,Sharon Abrahams,Franz Fazekas,Julian Grosskreutz,Sanjay Kalra,Jan Kassubek,Vincenzo Silani,Martin R Turner,Joseph C. Masdeu +9 more
TL;DR: These guidelines are designed to provide practical help for the neurologists to make appropriate use of neuroimaging techniques in patients with MNDs, which ranges from diagnostic and monitoring aspects to the in vivo study of the pathobiology of such conditions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Poor short-term outcome in patients with ischaemic stroke and active cancer
Markus Kneihsl,Christian Enzinger,Gerit Wünsch,Michael Khalil,Valeriu Culea,Tadeja Urbanic-Purkart,F. Payer,Kurt Niederkorn,Franz Fazekas,Thomas Gattringer +9 more
TL;DR: A direct role of AC in the pathogenesis and prognosis of acute ischaemic stroke is supported and needs to be considered in the management and counselling of such patients.
Journal Article
Inter-sequence and inter-imaging unit variability of diffusion tensor MR imaging histogram-derived metrics of the brain in healthy volunteers.
TL;DR: This study shows that inter-sequence, imaging-reimaging, and inter-imaging unit variabilities of diffusion tensor MR imaging-derived measurements are relatively low, suggesting that diffusion tenser MR imaging might provide additional measures of outcome with which to assess the evolution of brain structural damage in large scale studies of various neurologic conditions.
