TL;DR: Clinical diagnostic criteria, published in 1996 by the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke/Society for PSP have excellent specificity, but their sensitivity is limited for variant PSP syndromes with presentations other than Richardson's syndrome.

Rotigotine effects on early morning motor function and sleep in Parkinson's disease: A double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled study (RECOVER)
Claudia Trenkwalder,Bryan Kies,Monika Rudzińska,Jennifer Fine,Janos Nikl,Krystyna Honczarenko,Peter Dioszeghy,Dennis Hill,Tim J. Anderson,Vilho V. TL;DR: In a multinational, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial (NCT00474058), 287 subjects with Parkinson's disease (PD) and unsatisfactory early-morning motor symptom control were randomized 2:1 to receive rotigotine (2-16 mg/24 hr [n = 190] or placebo (n = 97) as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Topography of cerebral atrophy in early Huntington's disease: a voxel based morphometric MRI study
Jan Kassubek,Freimut D. Juengling,T Kioschies,Karsten Henkel,Jochen Karitzky,B. Kramer,D. Ecker,Jürgen Andrich,Carsten Saft,Peter H. Kraus,A J Aschoff,Albert C. Ludolph,Georg Bernhard Landwehrmeyer +12 more
TL;DR: The topography of cerebral volume changes associated with Huntington’s disease can be mapped using VBM and it can be shown that cerebral grey matter changes co-vary with clinical severity and CAG repeat length.
Journal ArticleDOI
Patients with elevated triglyceride and cholesterol serum levels have a prolonged survival in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis
Johannes Dorst,Peter Kühnlein,Corinna Hendrich,Jan Kassubek,Anne-Dorte Sperfeld,Albert C. Ludolph +5 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that the lipid metabolism and the nutritional status of ALS patients are important prognostic factors and should be thoroughly monitored during the clinical management of these patients, and that lipid-lowering drugs, e.g., statins, should be applied carefully in ALS patients although individual risk considerations must be made.
Journal ArticleDOI
Neurofilaments in the diagnosis of motoneuron diseases: a prospective study on 455 patients
Petra Steinacker,Emily Feneberg,Jochen H. Weishaupt,Johannes Brettschneider,Hayrettin Tumani,Peter M. Andersen,Christine A. Pinkhardt,Patrick Oeckl,Angela Rosenbohm,Sarah Anderl-Straub,Alexander E Volk,Alexander E Volk,Patrick Weydt,Albert C. Ludolph,Markus Otto +22 more
TL;DR: Neurofilaments in CSF have a high relevance for the differential diagnosis of MNDs and should be included in the diagnostic work-up of patients and their value as prognostic markers should be investigated further.
