Faraday cup: absolute dosimetry for ELIMED beam line

TL;DR: A Faraday Cup for absolute dosimetry, designed and realized at INFN-LNS, is described and will be the first transport beamline dedicated to the medical and multidisciplinary studies with laser-accelerated ion beams.
Journal ArticleDOI

Monte Carlo GEANT4-based application for in vivo RBE study using small animals at LNS-INFN preclinical hadrontherapy facility.

TL;DR: Different treatment configurations are studied in order to choose the best two that maximize the LET difference reducing as much as possible the dose released to healthy tissue and, in particular, for the future in vivo RBE studies.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Absolute and relative dosimetry for ELIMED

TL;DR: Radiochromic films, CR39, Faraday Cup, Secondary Emission Monitor and transmission ionization chamber will be considered, designed and studied in order to perform a fully dosimetric characterization of the ELIMED proton beam.
Journal ArticleDOI

Carbon Fragmentation Cross Sections for Hadrontherapy and Space Radiation Protection

TL;DR: In this paper, the double differential cross sections for the production of different fragments as a function of the emission angle were reported, compared with the GEANT-4 Monte Carlo predictions performed using two reaction models, the Quantum Molecular Dynamic and the Binary Light Ion Cascade.
