MedLinac2: a GEANT4 based software package for radiotherapy
TL;DR: In order to disseminate and encourage the use of Monte Carlo method in oncological radiotherapy, a software package based on the GEANT4 Monte Carlo toolkit has been developed and allows to simulate in an adequate flexible way a linear accelerator for radiotherapy and to evaluate the dose distributions.
Journal ArticleDOI
A new energy spectrum reconstruction method for Time-Of-Flight diagnostics of high-energy laser-driven protons.
Giuliana Milluzzo,V. Scuderi,Aaron Alejo,A.G. Amico,Nichola Booth,Marco Borghesi,G.A.P. Cirrone,Giacomo Cuttone,Domenico Doria,James Green,Satyabrata Kar,Georg Korn,Giuseppina Larosa,R. Leanza,Daniele Margarone,P. Martin,Paul McKenna,Giada Petringa,J. Pipek,L Romagnani,F. Romano,Andrea Russo,Francesco Schillaci +22 more
TL;DR: A new analysis method for reconstructing the energy spectrum of high-energy laser-driven ion beams from TOF signals is presented and discussed, which takes into account the detector's working principle through the accurate calculation of the energy loss in the detector active layer, using Monte Carlo simulations.

OFFSET: Optical Fiber Folded Scintillating Extended Tracker
D. Lo Presti,Sebastiano Aiello,Danilo Bonanno,G.A.P. Cirrone,Emanuele Leonora,Fabio Longhitano,C. Pugliatti,N. Randazzo,Fabrizio Romano,G.V. Russo,M. Russo,C. Stancampiano,Valeria Sipala +12 more
TL;DR: In this article, the OFFSET collaboration aims at the development of a novel system for tracking charged particles, designed to achieve real-time imaging, large detection areas, and a high spatial resolution especially suitable for use in medical diagnostics.
Journal ArticleDOI
A proton Computed Tomography system for medical applications
Valeria Sipala,Mara Bruzzi,Marta Bucciolini,M. Carpinelli,G.A.P. Cirrone,C. Civinini,Giacomo Cuttone,D. Lo Presti,Stefania Pallotta,C. Pugliatti,N. Randazzo,Fabrizio Romano,Monica Scaringella,C. Stancampiano,Cinzia Talamonti,M. Tesi,E. Vanzi,Margherita Zani +17 more
TL;DR: First tests under proton beam allowed obtaining good quality tomographic images of a non-homogeneous phantom, enabling to accurately reconstruct the electron density distribution of irradiated tissues.
