Journal ArticleDOI

The Composition of HB Stars: RR Lyrae Variables

TL;DR: In this paper, a new temperature scale was determined from literature Infrared Flux Method measures of subdwarfs and the Kurucz (1992) model atmospheres, and used to calibrate colors for both dwarfs and RR Lyraes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Gaia Data Release 1. Testing the parallaxes with local Cepheids and RR Lyrae stars

G. Clementini, +589 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the first parallax measurements of the primary standard candles of the cosmological distance ladder, that involve astrometry collected by Gaia during the initial 14 months of science operation, are published in Gaia Data Release 1 (DR1) as part of the Tycho-Gaia Astrometric Solution (TGAS).

Homogeneous photometry and metal abundances for a large sample of Hipparcos metal-poor stars★

TL;DR: In this paper, Johnson et al. presented homogeneous photometric data (Johnson V, B-V, V-K, Cousins V-I and Stromgren b-y), radial velocities, and abundances of Fe, O, Mg, Si, Ca, Ti, Cr and Ni for 99 stars with high-precision parallaxes measured by the Hipparcos satellite.
