Three-dimensional HYDRA simulations of National Ignition Facility targets

TL;DR: In this paper, Marinak et al. used the HYDRA multiphysics radiation hydrodynamics code to simulate a cylindrical NIF hohlraum that includes an imploding capsule.
Journal ArticleDOI

Toroidal gyro‐Landau fluid model turbulence simulations in a nonlinear ballooning mode representation with radial modes

TL;DR: In this article, a Fourier transform of a field line following basis with periodicity in toroidal and poloidal angles is applied to the simulation of ion temperature gradient (ITG) mode turbulence using a novel 3D nonlinear ballooning mode representation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Advances in the simulation of toroidal gyro Landau fluid model turbulence

TL;DR: In this article, the authors extended the gyro-Landau fluid (GLF) model equations for toroidal geometry by treating some unresolved issues conceming ion temperature gradient (ITG) turbulence with adiabatic electrons.
Journal ArticleDOI

Burning plasma achieved in inertial fusion

Alex Zylstra, +153 more
- 01 Jan 2022 -
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors achieved a burning-plasma state in the laboratory using a strategy to increase the spatial scale of the capsule through two different implosion concepts and showed that fusion self-heating in excess of the mechanical work injected into the implosions, satisfying several burningplasma metrics.
