Compression of frequency-swept microwave pulses using a helically corrugated waveguide

TL;DR: In this article, a 2.08 meter long copper helical waveguide was used to compress a 67 ns, 5.7 kW frequency-swept pulse from a high power TWT, driven by a swept solid-state source, to 2.8 ns 68 kW pulse containing 50% of the energy of the input pulse.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Generation of Train of Ultrashort Ka-band Pulses by Helical Gyro-TWTs with Nonlinear Cyclotron Resonance Absorber in the Feedback Loop

TL;DR: In this article, a periodic train of powerful ultrashort microwave pulses can be generated in an electron oscillator consisting of helically corrugated gyrotron travelling wave tube (gyro-Twt) and saturable absorber based on cyclotron resonance interaction of radiation with initially rectilinear electron beam.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

X-band pulse compression using a five-fold helically corrugated waveguide

TL;DR: In this article, a 5-fold helically corrugated waveguide (HCW) with both axial and azimuthal periodicity was used for microwave pulse compression.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Development of gyro-devices at IAP/GYCOM

TL;DR: Research activity on development of various gyro-devices at the Institute of Applied Physics of Russian Academy of Sciences (IAP RAS) and at the industrial company GYCOM Ltd is presented in this article.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Progress with the new multi-frequency ECRH system for ASDEX upgrade

TL;DR: In this paper, a multi-frequency ECRH system is currently under construction at the ASDEX Upgrade tokamak experiment, which employs depressed collector gyrotrons, step-tunable in the range 105-140 GHz, with a maximum output power of 1 MW and a pulse length of 10 s.
