Journal ArticleDOI
Local luminous infrared galaxies. ii. active galactic nucleus activity from spitzer/infrared spectrograph spectra*
TL;DR: In this article, the authors decompose the Spitzer Infrared Spectrograph (IRS) low-resolution 5 − 38µm spectra of the LIRGs into AGN and starburst components using clumpy torus models and star-forming galaxy templates, respectively.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dusty waves on a starry sea : The mid-infrared view of M31
Pauline Barmby,M. L. N. Ashby,Luciana Bianchi,Charles W. Engelbracht,Robert D. Gehrz,Karl D. Gordon,Joannah L. Hinz,John P. Huchra,Roberta M. Humphreys,Michael A. Pahre,Pablo G. Pérez-González,Elisha Polomski,George H. Rieke,David A. Thilker,Steven Willner,Charles E. Woodward +15 more
TL;DR: In this paper, mid-infrared observations of the Andromeda galaxy, M31, obtained with the Infrared Array Camera on board the Spitzer Space Telescope are presented, which cover areas of approximately 37 × 16 and include the satellite galaxies M32 and NGC 205.
Journal ArticleDOI
Gravity Indicators in the Near-Infrared Spectra of Brown Dwarfs
TL;DR: In this article, the spectral properties of substellar objects were investigated in terms of the sensitivity to temperature and gravity of the strong absorption features in the J-and K-band spectra of the objects, and it was shown that low-resolution spectra for M4-M9 stars and young brown dwarfs at R ~ 350 and signal-to-noise ratios greater than 70 can determine the spectral type to a precision of ± 1 subtype using the H2O and CO bands and can measure the surface gravity to ± 0.5 dex using the atomic lines
Journal ArticleDOI
Ultraviolet through far-infrared spatially resolved analysis of the recent star formation in m81 (ngc 3031)
Pablo G. Pérez-González,Robert C. Kennicutt,Karl D. Gordon,Karl Misselt,Armando Gil de Paz,Armando Gil de Paz,Charles W. Engelbracht,George H. Rieke,George J. Bendo,George J. Bendo,Luciana Bianchi,Samuel Boissier,Daniela Calzetti,Daniel A. Dale,Bruce T. Draine,Thomas H. Jarrett,David Hollenbach,Moire K. M. Prescott +17 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors derived several relationships to obtain total IR luminosities from IR monochromatic fluxes, and compared five different star formation rate estimators for H II regions in M81 and M51.
Journal ArticleDOI
Probing the Evolution of Infrared Properties of z ∼ 6 Quasars: Spitzer Observations
Linhua Jiang,Xiaohui Fan,Dean C. Hines,Yong Shi,Marianne Vestergaard,Frank Bertoldi,W. N. Brandt,Chris Carilli,Pierre Cox,Emeric Le Floc'h,Laura Pentericci,Gordon T. Richards,Gordon T. Richards,George H. Rieke,Donald P. Schneider,Michael A. Strauss,Fabian Walter,J. Brinkmann +17 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the spectral energy distributions (SEDs) of 13 z ~ 6 quasars using the Infrared Array Camera (IRAC) and Multiband Imaging Photometer for Spitzer (MIPS) were presented.
