Effects of Early Placement of Transjugular Portosystemic Shunts in Patients With High-Risk Acute Variceal Bleeding: a Meta-analysis of Individual Patient Data.

Oana Nicoară-Farcău, +140 more
- 01 Jan 2021 -
TL;DR: A meta-analysis of data from 1327 patients with cirrhosis, acute variceal bleeding, and Child-Pugh score between 10-13 points or CP-B+AB found that preemptive TIPS increased the proportion who survived for 1 year, in both subgroups separately, compared with drugs plus endoscopy.
Journal ArticleDOI

External trigeminal nerve stimulation for drug resistant epilepsy: A randomized controlled trial.

TL;DR: This study provides Class II evidence that ETNS reduces seizure frequency in patients with focal drug-resistant epilepsy and is an effective and well-tolerated therapy for focal DRE.
Journal ArticleDOI

Comparison of HE4, CA125, ROMA and CPH-I for Preoperative Assessment of Adnexal Tumors

TL;DR: ROMA and CPH-I perform better than tumor markers alone to identify patients harboring EOC or MCO to assess the risk of malignancy of adnexal masses, especially in cases where ultrasonographic diagnosis is challenging.
Journal ArticleDOI

Add-on inhaled budesonide in the treatment of hospitalised patients with COVID-19: a randomised clinical trial

TL;DR: An investigator-initiated, open-label, randomised clinical trial (RCT) is designed to explore the efficacy of adding inhaled budesonide to usual care to prevent disease progression in patients hospitalised because of COVID-19 pneumonia.
Journal ArticleDOI

Risk of non-tumoural portal vein thrombosis in patients with HCV-induced cirrhosis after sustained virological response.

TL;DR: The long‐term impact of SVR on the development of non‐tumoural PVT is analysed and it is shown that sustained virological response to direct‐acting antivirals ameliorates portal hypertension, improves hepatic function and may reverse the procoagulant state observed in patients with cirrhosis.
