Wade,Goodarz Danaei,Gretchen A Stevens,Leanne M. Riley,Majid Ezzati,Jcn Mbanya +74 more
TL;DR: The rapidly increasing burden of diabetes in Africa is being driven, at least in part, by increasing adiposity, with regional variations in observed trends, and African countries’ efforts to prevent and control diabetes and obesity should integrate the setting up of reliable monitoring systems.
Journal ArticleDOI
The promise of prevention: the effects of four preventable risk factors on national life expectancy and life expectancy disparities by race and county in the United States.
Goodarz Danaei,Eric B. Rimm,Eric B. Rimm,Shefali Oza,Sandeep C. Kulkarni,Christopher J L Murray,Majid Ezzati +6 more
TL;DR: The contribution of a set of risk factors (smoking, high blood pressure, elevated blood glucose, and adiposity) to socioeconomic disparities in life expectancy in the US population is examined.
Journal ArticleDOI
A novel risk score to predict cardiovascular disease risk in national populations (Globorisk): a pooled analysis of prospective cohorts and health examination surveys

Salomon,Majid Ezzati,Goodarz Danaei +30 more
TL;DR: A cardiovascular disease risk equation that can be recalibrated and updated for application in different countries with routinely available information is developed and applied in example countries.

Rimm,Goodarz Danaei,Camille DeSisto,Heather Kelahan,Kathryn J. Fiorella,David C. Little,Edward H. Allison,Jessica Fanzo,Shakuntala H. Thilsted +30 more
TL;DR: In this article, a model that unifies terrestrial foods with nearly 3,000 aquatic foods to understand the future impact of aquatic foods on human nutrition is presented. And the authors show that an increase in aquatic animal-source food production could reduce the inadequate intake of most nutrients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Trends and Cardiovascular Mortality Effects of State-Level Blood Pressure and Uncontrolled Hypertension in the United States
TL;DR: Self-reported data on hypertension diagnosis from the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System can be used to obtain unbiased state-level estimates of blood pressure and uncontrolled hypertension as benchmarks for priority setting and for designing and evaluating intervention programs.
