Journal ArticleDOI

Microbiota Depletion Impairs Thermogenesis of Brown Adipose Tissue and Browning of White Adipose Tissue

TL;DR: Gavage of the bacterial metabolite butyrate increased the thermogenic capacity of ABX-treated mice, reversing the deficit and indicating that gut microbiota contributes to upregulated thermogenesis in the cold environment and that this may be partially mediated viabutyrate.
Journal ArticleDOI

Brown adipose tissue transplantation ameliorates polycystic ovary syndrome.

TL;DR: It is shown that transplantation of brown adipose tissue (BAT) reversed anovulation, hyperandrogenism, and polycystic ovaries in a dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA)-induced PCOS rat and that BAT activation might be a promising therapeutic option for the treatment of PCOS.
Journal ArticleDOI

Myristoleic acid produced by enterococci reduces obesity through brown adipose tissue activation

TL;DR: The results demonstrated that the gut microbiota-LCFA-BAT axis plays an important role in host metabolism, which may provide a strategic advantage for the next generation of anti-obesity drug development.
Journal ArticleDOI

Brown adipose tissue activation by rutin ameliorates polycystic ovary syndrome in rat

TL;DR: It is found that 3 weeks of rutin (a novel compound for BAT activation) treatment increased BAT activation, thereby it improved thermogenesis and systemic insulin sensitivity in dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA)-induced PCOS rat and surprisingly improved fertility and birth defect in PCOS rats.
