The dragon lizard Pogona vitticeps has ZZ/ZW micro-sex chromosomes.

TL;DR: The bearded dragon, Pogona vitticeps, has differentiated previously unidentifable W and Z micro-sex chromosomes, the first to be demonstrated in an agamid lizard, implying that heterochromatinization of the heterogametic chromosome occurred during sex chromosome differentiation in this species.
Journal ArticleDOI

Germline mutation rates and the long-term phenotypic effects of mutation accumulation in wild-type laboratory mice and mutator mice

TL;DR: The impact of germline mutation rates on phenotypes in a mammalian population is revealed and fundamental information about mouse genetics is provided and the impact of mutation accumulation on phenotype is revealed.
Journal ArticleDOI

An Evolutionary Witness: the Frog Rana rugosa Underwent Change of Heterogametic Sex from XY Male to ZW Female

TL;DR: There is evidence that the male heterogametic sex determination of the frog Rana rugosa returned to its previous female state during speciation that occurred when the distribution range of the frogs expanded across Japan, quite recent in the phylogenetic time scale.
