Journal ArticleDOI
A rapid rate of sex-chromosome turnover and non-random transitions in true frogs.
Daniel L. Jeffries,Guillaume Lavanchy,Roberto Sermier,Michael J. Sredl,Ikuo Miura,Amaël Borzée,Lisa N. Barrow,Daniele Canestrelli,Pierre-André Crochet,Christophe Dufresnes,Jinzhong Fu,Wen-Juan Ma,Constantino Macías Garcia,Karim Ghali,Alfredo G. Nicieza,Ryan P. O'Donnell,Nicolas Rodrigues,Antonio Romano,Iñigo Martínez-Solano,Ilona Stepanyan,Silvia Zumbach,Alan Brelsford,Nicolas Perrin +22 more
TL;DR: A very high rate of sex chromosome turnover in true frogs is shown, which may be driven by rapid mutation-load accumulation due to the low recombination rate in males, suggesting a key role for mutation- load accumulation in non-recombining genomic regions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Global patterns in genomic diversity underpinning the evolution of insecticide resistance in the aphid crop pest Myzus persicae.
Kumar Saurabh Singh,Erick M. G. Cordeiro,Bartlomiej J. Troczka,Adam Pym,Joanna Mackisack,Thomas C. Mathers,Ana Duarte,Fabrice Legeai,Stéphanie Robin,Pablo Bielza,Hannah J. Burrack,Kamel Charaabi,Ian Denholm,Christian C. Figueroa,Richard H. ffrench-Constant,Georg Jander,John T. Margaritopoulos,Emanuele Mazzoni,Ralf Nauen,Claudio C. Ramírez,Guangwei Ren,Ilona Stepanyan,Paul A Umina,Nina V. Voronova,John Vontas,John Vontas,Martin S. Williamson,Alex C.C. Wilson,Gao Xiwu,Young-Nam Youn,Christoph T. Zimmer,Christoph T. Zimmer,Jean-Christophe Simon,Alexander Hayward,Chris Bass +34 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigate the evolution of resistance in the aphid Myzus persicae and reveal that the emergence and spread of these mechanisms is influenced by host-plant associations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hybrids of Darevskia valentini, D. armeniaca and D. unisexualis from a sympatric population in Armenia
TL;DR: The long-term monitoring has showed an increasing birth rate of triploid hybrids in this mixed population of rock lizard species Darevskia, and the frequency of captured males with fully developed reproductive systems and presumably fertile females also increased significantly.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cytogenetic mechanisms of unisexuality in rock lizards.
Victor Spangenberg,Marine Arakelyan,Marcelo de Bello Cioffi,Thomas Liehr,Ahmed Al-Rikabi,Elena Martynova,F. D. Danielyan,Ilona Stepanyan,Eduard A. Galoyan,Oxana Kolomiets +9 more
TL;DR: The findings confirm the hybrid nature of D. unisexualis and shed light on heterozygosity and automixis in diploid parthenogenetic forms and suggest a model for diploidal germ cells formation from diploids oocytes without premeiotic duplication of chromosomes in the oogenesis of diPLoid parthensogenetic lizards D.unisexualis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Extraordinary centromeres: differences in the meiotic chromosomes of two rock lizards species Darevskia portschinskii and Darevskia raddei.
Victor Spangenberg,Marine Arakelyan,Eduard A. Galoyan,Mark Pankin,Ruzanna Petrosyan,Ilona Stepanyan,T. M. Grishaeva,F. D. Danielyan,Oxana Kolomiets +8 more
TL;DR: Comparison of immunocytochemical study of primary spermatocyte nuclei spreads from the leptotene to diplotene stages of meiotic prophase I in two species allows to identify species-specific karyotype features, previously not been detected using conventional mitotic chromosome analysis.
