Accelerating Population Count with a Hardware Co-Processor for MicroBlaze

TL;DR: This paper proposes a Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA)-based hardware accelerator for assisting the embedded MicroBlaze soft-core processor in calculating population count and demonstrates that the best hardware accelerator with DMA (Direct Memory Access) is ~31 times faster than the best software version running on Micro Blaze.
Book ChapterDOI

Self-correction of FPGA-Based control units

TL;DR: The main contribution is the development of a parameterizable VHDL package and the respective error-correcting modules, which can easily be added to an FSM specification using any state assignment strategy and having any number of inputs, outputs and states.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Optimization of FPGA-based circuits for recursive data sorting

TL;DR: It is shown that the considered technique of recursive data sorting allows the known optimization methods for conventional state machines to be applied directly.
Journal ArticleDOI

Hardware Accelerators for Data Sort in All Programmable Systems-on-Chip

TL;DR: The paper analyzes and evaluates architectures of the most efficient hardware accelerators for data sort in FPGA and all programmable systems-on-chip (such as devices from the Xilinx Z ...
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Application-specific hardware accelerator for implementing recursive sorting algorithms

TL;DR: Experiments with the proposed FPGA-based hardware accelerators demonstrate that the performance of sorting operations is increased compared to known implementations of recursive sorting algorithms.
