Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of pioglitazone on metabolic parameters, body fat distribution, and serum adiponectin levels in Japanese male patients with type 2 diabetes

TL;DR: It is suggested that pioglitazone exerts good glycemic and blood pressure control despite increased BMI and SAT in Japanese male patients with type 2 diabetes and may have an antiatherosclerotic effect by increasing serum adiponectin level.
Journal ArticleDOI

Insulin Intervention in Slowly Progressive Insulin-Dependent (Type 1) Diabetes Mellitus

TL;DR: Insulin intervention to preserve beta-cell function is effective and safe for patients with SPIDDM or latent autoimmune diabetes in adults.
Journal ArticleDOI

Systemic delivery of interleukin 10 by intramuscular injection of expression plasmid DNA prevents autoimmune diabetes in nonobese diabetic mice.

TL;DR: The results show that the progression of autoimmune diseases in mice can effectively be suppressed by intramuscular DNA injection, and suggest that this method is potentially applicable to the treatment of human autoimmune diseases.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of troglitazone on fat distribution in the treatment of male type 2 diabetes

TL;DR: It is suggested that troglitazone may exert beneficial effects by reducing visceral fat, and a slight weight gain was associated with a tendency for subcutaneous fat to increase, while visceral fat decreased in both trog litazone-treated groups.
