Anthropogenic ocean acidification over the twenty-first century and its impact on calcifying organisms
James C. Orr,Victoria J. Fabry,Olivier Aumont,Laurent Bopp,Scott C. Doney,Richard A. Feely,Anand Gnanadesikan,Nicolas Gruber,Akio Ishida,Fortunat Joos,Robert M. Key,Keith Lindsay,Ernst Maier-Reimer,Richard J. Matear,Patrick Monfray,Anne Mouchet,Raymond G. Najjar,Gian-Kasper Plattner,Keith B. Rodgers,Christopher L. Sabine,Jorge L. Sarmiento,Reiner Schlitzer,Richard D. Slater,I. Totterdell,Marie-France Weirig,Yasuhiro Yamanaka,Andrew Yool +26 more
TL;DR: 13 models of the ocean–carbon cycle are used to assess calcium carbonate saturation under the IS92a ‘business-as-usual’ scenario for future emissions of anthropogenic carbon dioxide and indicate that conditions detrimental to high-latitude ecosystems could develop within decades, not centuries as suggested previously.
Journal ArticleDOI
Impacts of ocean acidification on marine fauna and ecosystem processes
TL;DR: Fabry et al. as discussed by the authors presented new observations, reviewed available data, and identified priorities for future research, based on regions, ecosystems, taxa, and physiological processes believed to be most vulnerable to ocean acidification.
Journal ArticleDOI
Multiple stressors of ocean ecosystems in the 21st century: projections with CMIP5 models
Laurent Bopp,Laure Resplandy,James C. Orr,Scott C. Doney,John P. Dunne,Marion Gehlen,Paul R. Halloran,Christoph Heinze,Christoph Heinze,Tatiana Ilyina,Roland Séférian,Jerry Tjiputra,Jerry Tjiputra,Marcello Vichi +13 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used the most recent simulations performed in the framework of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project 5 to assess how these stressors may evolve over the course of the 21st century.
Journal ArticleDOI
Potential impact of climate change on marine export production
Laurent Bopp,Patrick Monfray,Olivier Aumont,Jean-Louis Dufresne,Hervé Le Treut,Gurvan Madec,Laurent Terray,James C. Orr +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the response of marine productivity to global warming with two different ocean biogeochemical schemes and two different atmosphere-ocean coupled general circulation models (GCM) was investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI
A perturbation simulation of CO2 uptake in an ocean general circulation model
TL;DR: In this paper, the uptake of anthropogenic CO2 by the ocean is simulated using a perturbation approach in a three-dimensional global general circulation model using the combined Siple ice core and Mauna Loa records.
