Journal ArticleDOI
Naturally occurring allele diversity allows potato cultivation in northern latitudes
Bjorn Kloosterman,José A. Abelenda,Maria Gomez,Marian Oortwijn,Jan M. de Boer,Krissana Kowitwanich,Beatrix Horvath,Herman J. van Eck,Cezary Smaczniak,Salomé Prat,Richard G. F. Visser,Christian W. B. Bachem +11 more
TL;DR: It is shown that this gene belongs to the family of DOF (DNA-binding with one finger) transcription factors and regulates tuberization and plant life cycle length, by acting as a mediator between the circadian clock and the StSP6A mobile tuberization signal.
Journal ArticleDOI
Construction of Reference Chromosome-Scale Pseudomolecules for Potato: Integrating the Potato Genome with Genetic and Physical Maps
Sanjeev Kumar Sharma,Dan Bolser,Jan M. de Boer,Mads Sønderkær,Walter Amoros,Martín Federico Carboni,Juan Martín D'Ambrosio,Germán De la Cruz,Alex Di Genova,David S. Douches,Maria Eguiluz,Xiao-Qiang Guo,Frank Guzman,Christine A. Hackett,John P. Hamilton,Guangcun Li,Ying Li,Roberto Lozano,Alejandro Maass,David Marshall,Diana Martinez,Karen McLean,Nilo Mejía,Linda Milne,Susan Munive,Istvan Nagy,Olga Ponce,Manuel Ramirez,Reinhard Simon,Susan Thomson,Yerisf Torres,Robbie Waugh,Zhonghua Zhang,Sanwen Huang,Richard G. F. Visser,Christian W. B. Bachem,Boris Sagredo,Sergio Enrique Feingold,Gisella Orjeda,Richard E. Veilleux,Merideth Bonierbale,Jeanne M. E. Jacobs,Dan Milbourne,David M. A. Martin,Glenn J. Bryan +44 more
TL;DR: The work presented here has led to a greatly improved ordering of the potato reference genome superscaffolds into chromosomal “pseudomolecules”.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sequencing the Potato Genome: Outline and First Results to Come from the Elucidation of the Sequence of the World’s Third Most Important Food Crop
Richard G. F. Visser,Christian W. B. Bachem,Jan M. de Boer,Glenn J. Bryan,Swarup K. Chakrabati,Sergio Enrique Feingold,Robert Gromadka,Roeland C. H. J. van Ham,Sanwen Huang,Jeanne M. E. Jacobs,Boris Kuznetsov,Paulo Melo,Dan Milbourne,Gisella Orjeda,Boris Sagredo,Xiaomin Tang +15 more
TL;DR: The availability of the annotated data will help to characterize germplasm collections based on allelic variance and to assist potato breeders to more fully exploit the genetic potential of potato.
Journal ArticleDOI
Improving scFv antibody expression levels in the plant cytosol
A. Schouten,Jan Roosien,Jan M. de Boer,Annemiek Wilmink,Marie-Noëlle Rosso,Dirk Bosch,Willem J. Stiekema,Fred J. Gommers,Jaap Bakker,Arjen Schots +9 more
TL;DR: The cytosolic location of the scFv‐CK was confirmed, and it was shown that expression of several other scFvs was also improved in tobacco protoplasts, and changing from KDEL to KDEI did not affect the enhanced protein expression level.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cross-Species Bacterial Artificial Chromosome–Fluorescence in Situ Hybridization Painting of the Tomato and Potato Chromosome 6 Reveals Undescribed Chromosomal Rearrangements
Xiaomin Tang,Dóra Szinay,Chunting Lang,Munikote S. Ramanna,Edwin A. G. van der Vossen,Erwin Datema,René Klein Lankhorst,Jan M. de Boer,Sander Peters,Christian W. B. Bachem,Willem J. Stiekema,Richard G. F. Visser,Hans de Jong,Yuling Bai +13 more
TL;DR: Cross-species multicolor BAC–FISH is presented as a unique tool for comparative genetic studies across Solanum species and detects a large paracentric inversion within the inversion of tomato BACs.
