Genomic evidence for ameiotic evolution in the bdelloid rotifer Adineta vaga

TL;DR: The genome of a bdelloid rotifer, Adineta vaga, is reported and it is shown that its structure is incompatible with conventional meiosis, and abundant evidence of gene conversion is found, which may limit the accumulation of deleterious mutations in the absence of meiosis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Pre-bilaterian origins of the Hox cluster and the Hox code: evidence from the sea anemone, Nematostella vectensis.

TL;DR: Phylogenetic, developmental, and genomic analyses on the cnidarian sea anemone Nematostella vectensis challenge recent claims that the Hox code is a bilaterian invention and that no “true” Hox genes exist in the phylum Cnidaria.
Journal ArticleDOI

The breast cancer information core: database design, structure, and scope.

TL;DR: The Breast Cancer Information Core (BIC) is an open access, on‐line mutation database for breast cancer susceptibility genes that provides technical support in the form of mutation detection protocols, primer sequences, and reagent access.
