Fast high-precision distance measurements on scattering technical surfaces using frequency combs
Claudius Weimann,D. Meier,Stefan Wolf,Y. Schleitzer,M. Totzeck,Andreas Heinrich,Frank Hoeller,Juerg Leuthold,Wolfgang Freude,Christian Koos +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors measured the distance to scattering technical surfaces using modulator-generated optical frequency combs and achieved measurement errors below 10 μm, a dynamic range of over 37 dB and an acquisition time of 8.3 μs.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Effect of Transmitter Impairments on Nyquist-FDM Signals with Increasing Sub-band Granularity
TL;DR: In this paper, the influence of transmitter impairments such as IQ time delay and IQ gain imbalance on DP-16QAM Nyquist-FDM signals was investigated and it was shown that increasing the sub-band granularity makes NFDM more susceptible to transmitter imperfections.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
An all-optical grooming switch with regenerative capabilities
Juerg Leuthold,Rene Bonk,P. Vorreau,Stylianos Sygletos,David Hillerkuss,Wolfgang Freude,G. Zarris,Dimitra Simeonidou,Ch. Kouloumentas,M. Spyropoulou,Ioannis Tomkos,Francesca Parmigiani,Periklis Petropoulos,David J. Richardson,Ruwan Weerasuriya,Selwan K. Ibrahim,Andrew D. Ellis,Christian Meuer,Dieter Bimberg,R. Morais,Paulo P. Monteiro,S. Ben Ezra,Sagie Tsadka +22 more
TL;DR: In this article, a regenerative optical grooming switch for interconnecting 130 Gbit/s and 40 Gbps networks with switching functionality in time, space and wavelength domain is demonstrated.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
All-Optical Regeneration
TL;DR: All-optical regenerators for both on-off keying but also for novel phase modulation formats are reviewed, with the emphasis on all- optical schemes exploiting semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) nonlinearities.
