ALKBH5 Is a Mammalian RNA Demethylase that Impacts RNA Metabolism and Mouse Fertility
Guanqun Zheng,John Arne Dahl,Yamei Niu,Peter Fedorcsak,Chun-Min Huang,Charles J. Li,Cathrine Broberg Vågbø,Yue Shi,Yue Shi,Wen-Ling Wang,Wen-Ling Wang,Shuhui Song,Zhike Lu,Ralph P. G. Bosmans,Qing Dai,Ya-Juan Hao,Ya-Juan Hao,Xin Yang,Xin Yang,Wenming Zhao,Wei-Min Tong,Xiu-Jie Wang,Florian Bogdan,Kari Furu,Ye Fu,Guifang Jia,Xu Zhao,Xu Zhao,Jun Liu,Hans E. Krokan,Arne Klungland,Yun-Gui Yang,Yun-Gui Yang,Chuan He +33 more
TL;DR: The discovery of ALKBH5 as another mammalian demethylase that oxidatively reverses m(6)A in mRNA in vitro and in vivo strongly suggests that the reversible m( 6)A modification has fundamental and broad functions in mammalian cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Nordic countries as a cohort for pharmacoepidemiological research.
Kari Furu,Björn Wettermark,Morten Andersen,Jaana E. Martikainen,Anna Birna Almarsdóttir,Henrik Toft Sørensen +5 more
TL;DR: An overview of the prescription databases established in the Nordic countries is presented, as well as to elaborate on their unique potential for record linkage and cross-national comparison of drug utilization, to assist in resolving safety issues of international interest.
Journal ArticleDOI
Risk of Fetal Death after Pandemic Influenza Virus Infection or Vaccination
Siri E. Håberg,Lill Trogstad,Nina Gunnes,Allen J. Wilcox,Håkon K. Gjessing,Sven Ove Samuelsen,Anders Skrondal,Inger Cappelen,Anders Engeland,Preben Aavitsland,Steinar Madsen,Ingebjørg Buajordet,Kari Furu,Per Nafstad,Stein Emil Vollset,Berit Feiring,Hanne Nøkleby,Per Magnus,Camilla Stoltenberg +18 more
TL;DR: Pandemic influenza virus infection in pregnancy was associated with an increased risk of fetal death and vaccination itself was not associated with increased fetal mortality and may have reduced the risk of influenza-related fetal death during the pandemic.
Journal ArticleDOI
Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors during pregnancy and risk of persistent pulmonary hypertension in the newborn: population based cohort study from the five Nordic countries
Helle Kieler,Miia Artama,Anders Engeland,Orjan Ericsson,Kari Furu,Mika Gissler,Rikke Beck Nielsen,Mette Nørgaard,Olof Stephansson,Unnur Valdimarsdóttir,Helga Zoega,Bengt Haglund +11 more
TL;DR: The risk of persistent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn is low, but use of SSRIs in late pregnancy increases that risk more than twofold, and the increased risk seems to be a class effect.
Journal ArticleDOI
Establishment of the nationwide Norwegian Prescription Database (NorPD) – new opportunities for research in pharmacoepidemiology in Norway
TL;DR: NorPD covers the entire nation, 4.75 million inhabitants, and is a valid and reliable data source for studying use of prescription drugs, and clearly offers a sound basis of knowledge for national decisionmaking in the field of drug utilisation.
