Rethinking Arsenate Coordination at the Surface of Goethite

TL;DR: The cumulative results show that arsenate coordinates at the water-goethite interface in a predominately monodentate fashion and find no evidence for bridging-bidentate coordination, which is a finding that impacts oxoanion bioavailability and challenges theories of mineral dissolution and surface complexation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Scrutinizing negative thermal expansion in MOF-5 by scattering techniques and ab initio calculations.

TL;DR: A uniform and comprehensive picture of NTE in MOF-5 has been drawn, and it is provided direct evidence that the main contributor to NTE is translational transverse motion of the aromatic ring, which can be dampened by applying a gas pressure to the sample.
Journal ArticleDOI

The influence of the local structure of Fe(III) on the photocatalytic activity of doped TiO2 photocatalysts—An EXAFS, XPS and Mössbauer spectroscopic study

TL;DR: In this article, Fe-K edge X-ray absorption measurements were performed to quantify these effects, and it was learned that Fe(III) was present in a distorted octahedral environment in both series, however, the extent of distortion is much more significant within the S than within the F one.
