Journal ArticleDOI
Single-nucleotide polymorphisms in TrkB and risk for depression: findings from the women's interagency HIV study.
Valeriya Avdoshina,Italo Mocchetti,Chenglong Liu,Mary Young,Kathryn Anastos,Mardge H. Cohen,Howard Crystal,Celeste Leigh Pearce,Elizabeth T. Golub,Rochelle E. Tractenberg +9 more
TL;DR: The absence of depressive symptoms in HIV-positive subjects is associated with a genetic variation of the TrkB but not with BDNF or p75NTR genes, which explains 0.8% and 4.4% of the variability for the absence of depression in African Americans and Caucasians.
Journal ArticleDOI
Early outcomes after implementation of treat all in Rwanda: an interrupted time series study
Jonathan Ross,Jean d’Amour Sinayobye,Marcel Yotebieng,Donald R. Hoover,Qiuhu Shi,Muhayimpundu Ribakare,Eric Remera,Marcus A. Bachhuber,Gad Murenzi,Vincent Sugira,Denis Nash,Kathryn Anastos,for Central Africa IeDEA +12 more
TL;DR: This work estimated changes in ART initiation and retention in care following Treat All implementation in Rwanda in July 2016.
Journal ArticleDOI
Human Leukocyte Antigen Genotype and Risk of HIV Disease Progression before and after Initiation of Antiretroviral Therapy
Mark H. Kuniholm,Xiaojiang Gao,Xiaojiang Gao,Xiaonan Xue,Andrea Kovacs,Kathryn Anastos,Kathryn Anastos,Darlene Marti,Darlene Marti,Ruth M. Greenblatt,Mardge H. Cohen,Howard Minkoff,Stephen J. Gange,Melissa Fazzari,Mary Young,Howard D. Strickler,Mary Carrington,Mary Carrington +17 more
TL;DR: High-resolution HLA class I and II genotyping in a random sample of HIV-seropositive women enrolled in a long-term cohort initiated in 1994 observed many of the predicted associations, consistent with prior studies.
Journal ArticleDOI
The T-Cell Inhibitory Molecule Butyrophilin-Like 2 Is Up-regulated in Mild Plasmodium falciparum Infection and Is Protective During Experimental Cerebral Malaria
Krishanthi Subramaniam,Emily Spaulding,Emil Ivan,Eugene Mutimura,Ryung S. Kim,Xikui Liu,Chen Dong,Catherine M. Feintuch,Xingxing Zhang,Kathryn Anastos,Grégoire Lauvau,Johanna P. Daily +11 more
TL;DR: The immune responses associated with mild malaria are characterized and a novel role for BTNL2 in the host response to malaria is uncovered, which provides benchmarks of mild disease physiology.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Relation of HLA Genotype to Hepatitis C Viral Load and Markers of Liver Fibrosis in HIV-Infected and HIV-Uninfected Women
Mark H. Kuniholm,Xiaojiang Gao,Xiaonan Xue,Andrea Kovacs,Darlene Marti,Chloe L. Thio,Marion G. Peters,Ruth M. Greenblatt,James J. Goedert,Mardge H. Cohen,Howard Minkoff,Stephen J. Gange,Kathryn Anastos,Melissa Fazzari,Mary Young,Howard D. Strickler,Mary Carrington +16 more
TL;DR: HLA genotype may influence HCV viral load and risk of liver disease, including DQB1*0301, which was associated with HCV clearance in prior studies.
