Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of aging and subsequent exercise training on gene expression of endothelin-1 in rat heart
Motoyuki Iemitsu,Takashi Miyauchi,Seiji Maeda,Takumi Tanabe,Yoko Irukayama-Tomobe,Katsutoshi Goto,Mitsuo Matsuda,Iwao Yamaguchi +7 more
TL;DR: Results showed that Trained aged rats developed cardiac hypertrophy with improvement of cardiac function and mRNA expression of ET-1 in the heart is increased by aging, and that the mRNA expression is further increased by exercise-induced cardiachypertrophy, suggesting that ET- 1 in theHeart may participate in these physiological cardiac adaptations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Affinity labelling of endothelin receptor and characterization of solubilized endothelin-endothelin-receptor complex.
Hitoshi Miyazaki,Motohiro Kondoh,Hirotoshi Watanabe,Yasushi Masuda,Kazuo Murakami,Masami Takahashi,Masashi Yanagisawa,Sadao Kimura,Katsutoshi Goto,Tomoh Masaki +9 more
TL;DR: The data suggest that endothelin receptor is clearly distinct from dihydropyridine-sensitive Ca2+ channels and endothelins has its own specific 50-kDa receptor.
Journal ArticleDOI
Endothelin antagonism suppresses plasma and cardiac endothelin-1 levels in SHRSPs at the typical hypertensive stage.
Subrina Jesmin,Sohel Zaedi,Seiji Maeda,Hiroko Togashi,Iwao Yamaguchi,Katsutoshi Goto,Takashi Miyauchi +6 more
TL;DR: Investigation of the effects of ET blockade on the expression levels of plasma and cardiac ET-1 in SHRSPs found that suppression of the upregulated ET system might be beneficial in arresting cardiac remodeling.
Journal Article
Involvement of calcitonin gene-related peptide in the positive chronotropic and inotropic effects of piperine and development of cross-tachyphylaxis between piperine and capsaicin in the isolated rat atria
TL;DR: The results indicate that both piperine and capsaicin cause positive chronotropic and inotropic responses by releasing CGRP from nonadrenergic noncholinergic nerves, and that the development of cross-tachyphylaxis between p Piperine and Capsaicin is due to the depletion of endogenous C GRP.
Journal ArticleDOI
Bosentan antagonizes the effects of endothelin-1 on rat gastric blood flow and mucosal integrity.
TL;DR: Bosentan antagonized the vasodilator, vasoconstrictor and ulcerogenic effects of endothelin-1 in the rat gastric mucosa and shows that bosentan can be a useful probe in the study of endogenousendothelin in the gastrointestinal tract.
