Journal ArticleDOI

Role of heat shock protein 47, a collagen-binding chaperone, in lacrimal gland pathology in patients with cGVHD.

TL;DR: It is likely that fibroblasts incapable of myofibroblastic transformation are the main source of HSP47 and collagen production, and the resultant effect is the periductal fibrotic changes seen in lacrimal glands of patients with cGVHD.
Journal ArticleDOI

Transplantation of side population cells restores the function of damaged exocrine glands through clusterin

TL;DR: It is clarified that endothelial cell‐derived clusterin, a secretory protein, was an essential factor for SP cell‐mediated recovery of the hypofunctioning glands because SP cells isolated from salivary glands of clusterin‐deficient mice had no therapeutic potential, whereas lentiviral transduction of clustersin restored the hyp ofunction.
Journal ArticleDOI

Skin-Derived Precursors as a Source of Progenitors for Corneal Endothelial Regeneration.

TL;DR: The findings suggest that skin‐derived precursors may be used as a source of autologous cells for the treatment of corneal endothelial disease and transplanted corneas also maintained cornean transparency and thickness.
