Last millennium Northern Hemisphere summer temperatures from tree rings: Part I: the long term context
Rob Wilson,Rob Wilson,Kevin J. Anchukaitis,Kevin J. Anchukaitis,Keith R. Briffa,Ulf Büntgen,Edward R. Cook,Rosanne D'Arrigo,Nicole Davi,Nicole Davi,Jan Esper,Dave Frank,Björn E. TL;DR: Anchukaitis et al. as discussed by the authors presented the latest tree-ring-based NH land air temperature reconstruction from a temporal and spatial perspective, N-TREND2015 is relatively insensitive to the compositing method and spatial weighting used and validation metrics indicate that the new record portrays reasonable coherence with large scale summer temperatures and is robust at all time-scales from 918 to 2004 where at least 3 TR records exist from each major continental mass.

Multidecadal variability in East African hydroclimate controlled by the Indian Ocean
Jessica E. Tierney,Jason E. Smerdon,Kevin J. Anchukaitis,Kevin J. Anchukaitis,Richard Seager +4 more
TL;DR: It is shown that on timescales beyond the decadal, the Indian Ocean drives East African rainfall variability by altering the local Walker circulation, whereas the influence of the Pacific Ocean is minimal.

Climate Change and Drought: From Past to Future
TL;DR: A review of recent advances in understanding of drought dynamics, drawing from studies of paleoclimate, the historical record, and model simulations of the past and future, can be found in this paper.

Spatiotemporal drought variability in the Mediterranean over the last 900 years.
Benjamin I. Cook,Benjamin I. Cook,Kevin J. Anchukaitis,Kevin J. Anchukaitis,Ramzi Touchan,David M. Meko,Edward R. Cook +6 more
TL;DR: Analysis of Mediterranean drought variability in the Old World Drought Atlas and a spatiotemporal tree-ring reconstruction of the June-July-August self calibrating Palmer Drought Severity Index confirm the exceptional nature of this drought relative to natural variability in recent centuries, consistent with studies that have found evidence for anthropogenically forced drying in the region.
