TL;DR: In this article, a bias determination of ozone observations from the Atmospheric Chemistry Experiment (ACE) satellite instruments: the ACE Fourier Transform Spectrometer (ACE-FTS) and the Measurement of Aerosol Extinction in the Stratosphere and Troposphere Retrieved by Occultation (MAESTRO) instrument is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
Nucleation and condensational growth to CCN sizes during a sustained pristine biogenic SOA event in a forested mountain valley

TL;DR: The Whistler Aerosol and Cloud Study (WACS 2010) as mentioned in this paper included intensive measurements of trace gases and particles at two sites on the mountain in British Columbia between 6 and 11 July 2010.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: In this article, the authors make a systematic assessment of fourteen limb and occultation sounders that, together, provide more than three decades of global ozone profile measurements, and they find that between 20-40 km, the satellite ozone measurement biases are smaller than ±5 %, the short-term variabilities are better than 5-12 % and the drifts are at most ±5 percent decade−1 (and ±3 % decade− 1 for a few records).
Journal ArticleDOI
Trans‐Pacific transport of Saharan dust to western North America: A case study
Ian G. McKendry,Kevin Strawbridge,N. T. O'Neill,Anne Marie Macdonald,P. S. K. Liu,W. Richard Leaitch,Kurt G. Anlauf,Lyatt Jaeglé,T. Duncan Fairlie,T. Duncan Fairlie,Douglas L. Westphal +10 more
TL;DR: The first documented case of long range transport of Saharan dust over a pathway spanning Asia and the Pacific to Western North America is described in this paper, which highlights the possibility that Saharan sources may contribute episodically to the aerosol burden in western North America.
Journal ArticleDOI
The high Arctic in extreme winters: vortex, temperature, and MLS and ACE-FTS trace gas evolution
Gloria L. Manney,Gloria L. Manney,William H. Daffer,Kevin Strawbridge,Kaley A. Walker,Kaley A. Walker,C. D. Boone,Peter F. Bernath,Peter F. Bernath,T. E. Kerzenmacher,Michael J. Schwartz,Kimberly Strong,Robert J. Sica,Kirstin Krüger,Hugh C. Pumphrey,Alyn Lambert,Michelle L. Santee,Nathaniel J. Livesey,Ellis E. Remsberg,M. G. Mlynczak,John Russell +20 more
TL;DR: The first three Canadian Arctic Atmospheric Chemistry Experiment (ACE-FTS) validation campaigns at Eureka (80° N, 86° W) were during two extremes of Arctic winter variability: Stratospheric sudden warmings (SSWs) in 2004 and 2006 were among the strongest, most prolonged on record; 2005 was a record cold winter as mentioned in this paper.
